Bought heat patches yesterday that are supposed to help give relief from pain. Animate the warnings about correct use and wrong use the box says not to use them while sleeping , presumably because they could be too hot....are the powers that be expecting them to get so hot you would wake to find a pile of smouldering charcoal where your limb once was??? Also the instructions suggest that the heat pads shouldnt be bitten...WTF!!! How, how is a pain patch likely to be bitten??? Lol

I'll have look and see if I can find it again, Pen

Facebook is so much more popular and in talking/posting on facebook you are reaching a much larger audience. The forum is quite limited in many ways compared to facebook. I feel that the forum will be okay because the core members on it will always support it and look after it.

Good question, Catherine. I think really it comes down to convenience. On Facebook it is much easier to post pics and videos for instance. Here I have to upload them to Photobucket or YouTube first and give the link. Also, commenting on Facebook is easier - people can post from their cellphones quickly or upload pics too. See I joined Facebook to connect with family and friends and it is great for that. A by-product is also being able to easily connect with fellow Sahbsters. Now having said that, most of them would have never been my Facebook friends if I hadn't met them here first! I spend less time on Facebook lately, and there is less posting there by Craigie, Crooktown, Tom, Helen etc. I'd love for this forum to have more activity but I don't know how to make this happen. For example, last weekend, through the Sahbrock webcast I added two people I was chatting with to my Facebook friends and invited them here but I doubt if they'll visit or join which is disapointing because they'd liven the place up a bit. New blood is always welcome! To be honest, I spend more time not on Facebook now but on a Beatles forum - The Beat Gear Cavern, because as you know I'm a Beatles fanatic as well. I don't think I would get much response here if I inquired about which pickups would be best for my acoustic guitar or whether or not flat wounds are good strings for my bass!
Simply put, Facebook is easier, quicker and more encompassing than a forum. I think in the end it will end up biting everyone though because I suspect all those pictures, videos, and comments between family and friends will be used on the web for some commercial or unforseen way by companies and a lot of privacy will be lost.

I get all the points that you put guys, thanks, I agree with Ginnie, if your soul is out there it will be stolen.
What I don't get is the disloyalty. Each is free do do as they will but to delete membership and set up a Facebook page in order to more easily post Roadworm's collection - when that collection was brought here and posted on here first, I don't get it; now the endless duplication of threads that we have on here, twice over in some cases.
I guess we're just not SAHBby enough but then again the Facebook page isn't either, as long as the band remains defiantly dormant, it can only be dredged up rehashes of what has gone on here before.
I don't get it and I think Facebook is potentially downright dangerous

It's just a flying guess but this response to posts on SAHBfans on Facebook might just be read by those who commented on a previous post of mine on here - on HERE mind you, NOT Facebook - and yet, as the nice man with the photos said, without my permission - on Facebook it went - like I said if you put it out there it will go wherever it gets taken and that's not always what was meant.
I don't have a problem with Facebook but I see it as potentially dangerous from the point of view of cyber bullying and grooming victims for whatever deviant purpose. (1st post and I get misquoted......)
None of us could work this forum at the beginning and that was part of the fun, I can't work Facebook but then, I've never tried and have no plans to so do. Of course you meet new people and that's a good thing but a fair few manage to maintain two or more forum memberships - in particular Ginnie and a few others of our members. I tried and tried but can't work the Yahoo group but there is happy crossover with some of their members.
I have no desire to reach a wider audience, this is not MY forum, it belongs to SAHB fans everywhere, as did SAHBfans on Facebook - I doubt it'll reach many more by going private.
I'm not jealous of anyone or anything, why would I be?
I agree with Jim, to a degree, the more SAHB that's out there, the better, the higher chance there is of more fans finding like minded people. On the Facebook page, a membership of 200 odd good home folks and yet, exactly the same as here, it's the same famous five that posts regularly and generally, much of it is just nice chit chat, no more SAHBby than here.
However, I also agree with Mike, his analagy is that you just couldn't eat you favourite meal every day for ever - but then, as I said before, as long as the band remains dormant, any new site or page or whatever can and will only be dredged up rehashes of that which has been covered before, although I do appreciate that people have found SAHB fans through Facebook, who perhaps never thought to Google SAHB and find this.
It's none of my business what other people do or don't do, I just don't get - and this is not particularly Scott, it happens periodically - deleting the account on here - others manage more than one, I don't and seems like neither does Scott - so maybe we have more in common than he thinks.
SHHHHH! It's private

I have been saying for years now, Facebook will be the death of the Forum, and it looks like it's getting closer and closer. Facebook was a great way to reach out to a lot more S.A.H.B. fans and fans of the other bands who played SAHBROCK 2012 , it meant more T-Shirt sales and more ticket sales , and hopfully more dvd sales. There is a lot more activity on Facebook, whether it be on S.A.H.B. pages or friends and family pages, like Pete says, it's the same loyal folks that visit the Forum regulary, and even the best of mates get fed up telling the same old stories to the same old faces. I will always be here, because firstly im a S.A.H.B fan, i want to keep Alex's name and music alive, also the bands music too, secondly i have made great friends on here, friends that i will never leave behind, and thirdly, it's the first place i come to for ANY info on the band. I pop in most days, not always got time to hang around and post, not always got something to say, but im always here, im always on Facebook too, see im part of the burial party and it sticks in my throat. Surely we can all live together on this issue, no need for fights, after all we're all S.A.H.B fans.

No fighting in evidence from where I'm standing and if my posts were read properly I'd like to think that was obvious.
Of course all and any pages/forums etc can coexist and they do, it's the deleting of the account that mystefies me.
My personal opinion of Facebook (in the main, with some exceptions) remains the same and if my original post had not been lifted from here and posted on there.............
