Keep gettin' stick (not THAT one!) off m' Lady P so here's one what I just poemed earlier
The Dance
I skip to the left, you glide to the right I see your smile 'neath pale moonlight
The music plays; a salsa beat The dance of life in a dusty street
You have no name; it matters not You are so young; the night so hot
A firework bursts in a velvet sky A siren sounds; a baby cries
The beat goes on; it's louder yet The primal sound we never forget
I hold the wound You hold the knife And so it ends; this dance of life

Lady P will be proud of you Sir Peter - another good one - I was telling Zal about the poetry thread and suggesting that he have a read of your work - as we know, he is a wordsmith too

Funnily enough, as I re-read it, I actually imagined it being sung to a Spanish/Mexican type accompaniment.

Another bollocking off Lady P! Here's a quick one that I may expand on later.
Don't look for love when no-one's there Don't look for hope when you're in despair Don't look up when you're feeling down Don't look for laughter in the eyes of a clown

As one or two of you know, I've been trying to write something for Alex for two or three months but what with bob (box of bolts - my computer) playing-up and one thing and another it's taken me a while. Anyway, here it is at last -
For Alex
I saw a lonely soldier standing on a distant hill on a stone-grey misty morning, in the rain and the winter chill
I approached him with apprehension but saw a smile and a glint in his eye He said, “ I'm a rock 'n roll warrior an' ah'm gonna boogie till the day I die”
“Ah've been playin' my blues with the Cannibal King and his simple syncopation Now I'm tellin' you my time is due and we're gonna rock this nation”
So he travelled the land with his rock n' roll band Sailed to America and Australia He was a mighty pirate captain and the King Of All Vibrania
He took to the stage with a cane in his hand pleading and beseeching This was no false prophet We all believed what he was preaching
He spoke of conservation Said “We gotta save this world” He said we were good home folks and he called us boyz an' gurlz
For a few short years he enjoyed the cheers praise and adulation and when he died I know I cried - So did his Stripey Nation
Well he ain't got no statue or plaque of eggshell blue but if he did it would simply say “I'm Alex – To Be Continued”
I realise that the last verse may be redundant now with the People's Palace project but I've left it in anyway, for the time being at least.
I know that it may not be to everyone's taste and that some of you may have ideas of how it could be improved - feel free to pm me with ideas; I may be able to change things around.

That's the one Sir Peter of Yonder Barrow, Bard of all Vibrania
There was a blue plaque in a playpark near where Alex was raised...............it was stolen - good old Glasgow
Your work pre-dates the memorial and may encourage them - not that they need it - to go one better.

Your work pre-dates the memorial and may encourage them - not that they need it - to go one better. I remembered about the theft but thought, "He ain't got one now". I know, it's dangerous when I start thinking!

What is Music?
What is music? Rhythm, melody and harmony A catchy tune with a groovy beat But what if we take those things away? Is it atonal noise? Or pure, unrestrained sound Is beauty within the music, Or something music inspires inside us?
