A Star Called Henry by Roddy Doyle, a story of a young lad growing up in poverty in Dublin and going on to become a Repulican soldier in the Irish Citizen Army , its all set at the start of the century, and as with all Roddy Doyles books, its very hard to put down, also reading Exit Music by Ian Rankin, another highly readable Rebus story, its not bad at all, and at the risk of showing off, i'm also reading The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connolly, not too sure about this one, but I always persevere to at least 100 pages before i give up on a book, so we'll see about this one!!! I guess you have to do something when you're at work Cavey, we all know that trains drive themselves... ... it's not as though you have to steer them for feck sake ;D

Got four on the go at the moment !
Young Hearts Run Free - Dave Haslam
An unsanitised look at the '70s - racism, politics, football hooliganism, music (even a mention for SAHB !) it's all in here folks !
Bad Science - Ben Goldacre
Does what it says on the tin - exposes the flawed science and even non-science behind things like 'Brain Gym' , Homeopathy', 'Detox' and many of the other things which the modern day snake oil salesmen try to push on us as being 'The next big thing !'
Silent Spring - Rachel Carsen
The first book (1960s)to highlight the dangers of the (over) use of pesticides and the damage we are doing to the environment.
The Ages of Gaia - James Lovelock
Argues that the Earth is a living organism and explains how life is only possible because of a delicate balance achieved over many millions of years.

ELVIS - Still Taking Care of Business by Sonny West (his bodyguard)
Here's a neat quote of Sonny's father: "As long as I'm your Daddy, and when you get out of line, I will always be smarter, be stronger, run faster, jump higher, and be able to kick your butt up and down this street."

Just started
Felicity Kendall - White Cargo
Felicity Kendal was brought up in India, touring the country as part of a troupe of actors managed by her father. Aged 17, she came to England for the first time. This book describes that exotic upbringing in India and explains what an unusual effect it has had on the rest of her life.

Just finished the Bad Science (Ben Goldacre) book. I recommend that anyone with a cabinet full of 'health remedies' or considering acupuncture, homeopathy etc should read this book. It'll cost you under a tenner and could just save you a small fortune !!!!
