Controversial question maybe but how many of us think that we will ever see SAHB play live again ? They survived Alexs' death made a great comeback with Max then more problems with Zals departure. Julian came in and still the loyal fan base supported them around the country.Last years three gigs in May since then not a whimper. Is this really the end?
To be continued...................................................?

All i can say to this is, I sincerely hope they will play again, but, it will be up to the guys themselves to decide, just as long as they know they have our support.

Well I told you it was controversial as hardly anyone has answered but in my opinion unless we hear something in the next few months I think that will be it.Sad but true

My personal opinion is that we will see S.A.H.B play again even if its to be the grand-finale, the S.A.H.B story doesn't deserve to end like this and I just hope the band care enough to not let that happen........... So i live in optimistic hope cheerz md

A final show at the ABC Glasgow would certainly be a blast, the last one was the first time that Craigie and me met most of you guys. A great show followed by meeting the band and seeing them play for a second time in one night at the Clutha Vaults, awesome.
Zal and Julian on stage together, something not to be missed.

They should all get together and do an unplugged set! That would be interesting and The Hammer Song would fit right in...

Hi Ginnie, The SAHB did an unplugged set at the 1st Convention / Bilston Tea Party back in 2006, I can't remember off hand what they played but I'm sure the Hammer Song must have been there. I do remember it was a Sensational set Chris played a 4 string acoustic set up as a bass

It was an Accoustic Bass as sarge says, I seem to remember him thanking either Susan on Catherine for it, but i'm no guru on the topic.
As for the question, I have, for sometime thought "that's yer lot John" (moopig) I have cherished memories of Holmfirth, the last time i saw the line up with Zal. But I can clearly remember saying to MK that I was making a special effort to get there, call it a feeling if you like.
I'm glad I did, cos a car accident spoilt me doing the SAHBSTOCK thing.
I know there are logistical/financial/personal/thirdworld/insideleg/age/ribs-n-balls hurdles and I know they've all got proper lives.
But i can't help dreaming.
I'd help sponsor a gig meself if i thought it would help.
But no, i think the moments gone Sahbsters.
Father, oh father, oh show us a sign.

Indeed it was just such a guitar and yes, they played The Hammer Song - there is a tale to that guitar.......perhaps I'll seek it out and post it for you all to have a chuckle!!

The front cover of the "book" from which comes the tale of exactly how the accoustic bass came about...... "
Susan Makes Things Happen

The following is a rambling, tongue in cheek, non chronological diary of random anecdotes, composed in the” primitive drivel” style, resulting in a self-gratifying collection of Catherine-isms, most of which have been gleaned and recycled; some are original but probably not too many; the tales are all true. Really.

This is the relevant excerpt........
My renewed relationship with my big brother, brought about by him moving back to Glasgow, the band touring and Colin’s willingness to drive for over an hour to see them in action, has rewarded Colin with several such moments.
One, in particular, in April of this year, came to pass as a consequence of us extending a standing open invitation to my big brother to come and visit. Never a great one for planning ahead, we got three days’ notice that he had convinced Zal that a wee run to Shropshire was a great idea. It’s plain to me that Zal must have been having a weak moment, or maybe it was true what he’d said another night on another tour bus, he really likes Shropshire.
The pair of them duly materialised and a simply splendid weekend was had by all. The warm sunshine shone on us and the welcome breeze was light with its caresses.
A tootle around our handsome mediaeval county town of Shrewsbury was on the cards for the Saturday, a swift pint and other manly pursuits. A visit to one of Colin’s favourite music stores was also on the itinerary. My big brother was quite taken with the range of instruments available and had a quick plink at some big name, well thought of acoustic bass, it was okay. Then he spotted another less well thought of make, had a quick plink and was bowled over. The second guitar far outshone the first. Despite the fact that he wasn’t really on a shopping trip, my big brother strode, as only he can, over to the young fella me lad behind the counter. “Hi, I’m Chris Glen of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band”, quoth he, “anything you can do with the price on that guitar?”
Now, this must happen all the time, “Hi, I’m Sookma Schlong of The Shaggamuffins” or “I’m the singer of Willy Won’ty and the Wobblybits”
or “I’m Geruptah Singh, with the big bass drum, from the Massed Pipes and Drums of the Anglo Indian Oil Band” or “You must know me, I’m Jock, of Jock Strap and the Tatty Sacks”
or “My cousin’s sister’s husband’s first wife is now married to Jack Ulation and the Dribbledicks” , or “bugger! shit! bum! tit! wank! thingy”! ““sorry, mate I’m with Tommy Tourette and the TWATS”, and so on.
It just must, because young fella me lad looked straight through my big brother and explained how very sorry he was but the prices were really keen as it was. Ever philosophical and having a want, as opposed to a need, in his life for an acoustic bass, my big brother, shrugged and thanked young fella me lad anyway.
More mooching around a store that holds untold fascination for them, Colin bought some drumsticks then home they came. We sat in the still glorious sunshine, had a beer, a bit of banter. When by no obvious means, other than magic, of course, Colin produced the guitar to which my big brother had taken a fancy. To say my big brother’s face was a picture would be to seriously understate the case. In fact, my big brother still thinks it was magic. Although his bottom lip trembled just a little to learn that young fella me lad had said to Colin, “Hi, Mr B., the acoustic bass, of course, yeah, I can give you 15%”. My big brother now tells that tale against himself. Big man.
