Take a chill pill Ginne, huv a lie doon. Actually, that's a very good idea - but I have to cook supper. ... now for something completely different... (humming the Python song)

I think it is appreciated and well understood that Our Children of the Colonies are at somewhat of a disadvantage regarding practicalities in this sort of appeal - however, I believe that Chad is supporting his wife and the charitable endeavours she and others have made - I also think that an apparent burst of apathy in response to the cause may have tinted his post - he also has a very specific way of posting I have a way of posting too, Catherine, but that doesn't mean I can insult the whole forum with a broad stroke. Personally, my charity this week is the the Canadian Legion. Buy your poppies to support your vets! (um, are you wearing a poppy Chad or don't they do that over there?) No, I don't believe you ever have insulted the forum or anyone on it, Sir Gin; I don't believe that Chad meant, not for one minute, to insult anyone on here either.
Although I don't KNOW, I'd be very surprised if Chad was not supporting the Poppy Appeal - we DO do that here - I ain't particularly sticking up for Chad or agreeing or disagreeing here, perhaps I just have a spare bottle of oil to pour on possibly troubled waters....

Well I don't have to "like it" TK. Just expressing my opinion - which last time I checked, I was allowed to do. The "point" in my rant - I thought I already had clarified that so I won't go over it again. ... and there's nothing wrong with sticking up for Chad anyway, so you don't need to make an excuse for that. All people need support, TK. I hope you don't get the impression that I have anything against charities! Support as many as you can - we can't rely upon the government to do it for us. Cheers.

Hi guys, I think this has all been taken WAY out of hand, Chad is at work at the mo an no doubt will post up his own response, but i think his whole point in his post was the lack of interest and support from members. After i posted up the info on the gig, i didnt expect an overwhelming response what so ever, my reason for posting it was that one of you might have a son/daughter/neice/nephew who stays local and might be at a loose end wanting to catch some awesome (and they were ;D) acts, who very kindly gave us time and talent for free to support a great cause. I was well chuffed with the 5 posts (one from ma auld da ) of good lucks, but i think Chads point was a good luck or hope it goes well does not cost anything, not even postage. But thanks to Penny, Catherine, Cavey, T.K and Bigg Hoggy (hope you like yer cd mate!!!) for all your kind wishes and i am pleased to report that we raised around about £600 (still to count and finalise some money) for Oxfam. Not bad i dont think. Octobot love xx

It is really good to see young folks caring enough about other people that they take time and effort to try to help them. I applaud you for that. And Chad too. FWIW I did donate directly to the Oxfam Canada site. (I took the Missus, advice and took a "chill pill", well actually it was a liquid...)

FWIW I did donate directly to the Oxfam Canada site. (I took the Missus, advice and took a "chill pill", well actually it was a liquid...) I dont feel you have to apologise Ginnie, a you said everyone is entilted to have an opinion, and Chad was only expressing his. How boring would the world be if everyne had the same views and thoughts, and forums like this wouldnt exist without differences of opinions. I'd also like to add that yes Chad, myself and Jack all have poppies and we do support charities, Jack even went so far as to put his pocket money in an action for Children charity tin while i was bag packing in Asda, bless him No one should be guilted into proving who they donate to, that is not the point here what so ever, as i said before it was the fact that Chad and myself have met alot of people on this forum, and to receive 5 posts of well wishes, says it all really. But thank you for your kind words, one thing i reaslised that it was alot harder than i ever thought it would be, the general public( NOT AIMED AT ANYONE before anyone starts ) can be so un-charitable it is unreal, Natalie and myself obtained a street collectors licence so to the mean streets of Glasgow we took on a very cold October afternoon. We made a dissapointing £20, of course every little helps and £20 can buy a hell of alot to someone who has nothing, so i would never call it not worthwhile, but when you are 5 months pregnant standing in cold and rain for 5+ hours was difficult. Even saying that i feel bad as i came home to a hot bath ran by my loving husband, i am priviledged to have that. If anyone is interested in the Octobots, as we will be doing more charity events and Oxjam 2011, then please get in touch via our facebook at www.facebook.com/octobots or at octobots@hotmail.co.uk Not a rant at all, just my charity experience guys, please dont think i am having a go, i am just expressing my opinions and experiences... xx
