Circus Raves, December 1974
Alex Harvey is practically old enough to be your father: 38 years of rock’n’roll soul, to be exact. Of course he isn’t necessarily the oldest man in rock’n’roll, with Elvis Presley, Ian Hunter and Leon Russell being very secretive about their grey hairs (and Ray Manzarek’s a good 35 years). But you’d expect a veteran like Alex to have a nice, safe respectable blues outfit à la John Mayall – after all, he’s not a kid anymore. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let It Rock, June 1975
IT'S IMPOSSIBLE to listen to Alex Harvey without feeling distinctly unsettled. On stage he's an obsessive – a malevolent dictator figure – in full control of his own faculties and the audience. I felt so paranoid, stumbling from a gig at the Rainbow last year, that I half expected to find Finsbury Park in the throes of a race riot. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Sensational Alex Harvey Band at Newcastle Mick Brown, Sounds, 15 May 1976
I WAS going to say fascism, but as the man said, how could anyone take Hitler seriously without his moustache? What a moustache! Clipped, sharp, black as hell, fundamentally evil, pulling the whole of his face – which is otherwise as anonymous as wet pastry – into dark and malevolent focus. A moustache that could massacre millions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alex Harvey: It Pays To Hang Tough Richard Cromelin, Phonograph Record, January 1975
"MAYBE I'M GETTING old," says Alex Harvey, sounding a bit puzzled. "It may be that simple." It's a bit of a laugh, after listening to so many 25-year-old rock 'n' rollers lament over and lash out at that terrifying prospect, to hear it from someone who's a rising star at the age of 39. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I might have some old articles somewhere....will look them out, from the NME or Sounds.
I should also have an interview Zal did with a guitar mag too, it had the first photo I had ever seen without him wearing his makeup.
