Latest update from Stuart Donaghey re The Peoples Palace.
The Peoples Palace have agreed to display the Big Alex Harvey painting on the 9th February (1 day only). They will also display the Alex Harvey bust assuming it is ready in time (fingers crossed). Good news is the bust will remain on permanent display within the Winter Gardens (next to the bench)......I believe most folks will arrive around 1-00pm for a get together prior to heading for a wee refreshment around 4ish.

Cheerz4now md Many karma to Stu Yahoo in (hopefully) achieving his goal of having the bust commissioned and on permanent display; it's probably the only great pity that the BIG picture being loaned for THE weekend last year was deemed as non viable by Hef, no matter, it's in good hands now. Well done, Stu Karma to Mike Drew for keeping the forum informed

Latest from Stuart............. "I uplift it tonight (Alex Harvey sculpted bust) so no problems with having it ready for display on the 9th. Also Alex Harvey Jnr has very kindly agreed to unveil it at the Winter Gardens so good news there. The WG have also agreed to relocate the bench to a more central location with the bust permanently on display behind it. I have also purchased an aluminium stand for the painting (as there is no wall space to hang it in WG) so hopefully this will work out ok. The Evening Times are going to put an article in the paper next week regarding the WG and i've asked them to mention we are looking for a permanent home for the painting. Anyway thats all for now......I'll post a photo of bust after it's unveilled on the 9th".........So its all looking good................ Cheerz4now md

Thanks for this info, Mike. Stuart deserves a medal for his hard work looking for a permanent home for the picture and for getting the bust of Alex on display. Very, very well done, Stu. Gutted I can't be there.

31 years today since the tragic death of the Great man. Yep...R.I.P. A.H.--still remember being gutted when I read the news I prefer to remember Alex on stage, or in the green room or at the after show parties; I think last year's event at the People's Palace felt rather like the very best funeral service you've ever been to; the atmosphere was wonderful, so full of affection you could touch it and so grown up and dignified, with some really nice touches arranged by Stu - the whole demeanor of those in attendance, I think we did Alex, Alex junior and the whole Harvey clan proud. That's just the best way to remember.

Despite the cold wet weather I'm sure everyone will have a lovely day at the People's Palace; I don't think it can be said often enough, Stu Yahoo sure done good, all over again
A gig thereafter is ideal too, all the best to Jack and his Tribs

Chris just called on his way home from the People's Palace, nice turn out, maybe about 150 good home folks, nice ones peeps That's roughly how many Stu thought may be there last year........................it must've made all his (and his able helpers)endeavours feel more than worthwhile when, over the weekend two and a half thousand people attended the People's Palace
