A resounding yes to most of the above and I apologise in advance here My Fair Lady (see what musical differences my darling man has to put up with!) Have to agree with Catherine...I love a good Musical. Sound of Music for me...plus Random Harvest,,,just love Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon in this fab black and white movie. However also love Layer Cake Pulp Fiction Devils Advocate ...just depends what mood you're in I guess !!

I love" A Christmas Story"its part of the xmas celebrations in our house.Especially the bit where they "double dog dare" the kid to put his tongue on the frozen pole and then all go back in to class leaving him alone stuck to it. I love stage musicals films too,not the creaky old stuff like seven brides for seven brothers with its wierd technicolour. Talking of Saving Private ryan-my brother heard of a "different " version of it called "Shaving Ryan's Privates" how very rude it must have been. What would our dear Queen say about it

Yes, its a tradition to open gifts on Christmas Eve with A Christmas Carol playing; before VHS and such the local stations used to play all night long. Another station would just have a loop of a Yule log burningwith Christmas carols playing in the backgroud
Back to the thread how can I forget
Jaws The Exorcist Jurrasic Park
Schindlers'List The Longest Day The Day of the Jackel

Over here we open our pressies on Christmas day- at about six in the morning, but I thought you may have heard of "The Christmas Story" Vic set in a very nostalgic usa of the 40's. Bestbit is when he inadvertently comes out with a naughty word and gets a bar of soap put in his mouth-his mom asks him where he could have heard such words(he heard it off his dad ,who was a rare cusser when the boiler or the car broke down) only he tells his mom its some other kid at school. funny stuff

Oh and the one with the big bloke ... ermmmmm ... he takes a wayward child on board and saves her life in nthe end ..... one word .... a name .... he is French ( I think ) ... feckin hell i hate it when this happens .. Craigie, the film was called Leon, with Jean Reno. Another of his, Ronin, is one of my faves. Often repeated on tv & I always watch some, if not all of it. Mainly cos of Robert DeNiro..... has he ever made a duff film? Apart from that, my faves would be the Blues Brothers & Life of Brian. Oh, and The Holy Grail. And also The Shawshank Redemption for me too And Happy Gilmore ;D
