One of my favorites and one of my influences
taken from an article from Angel Air Records:
JOHN DU CANN 1945-2011
John died suddenly on 21 September of a suspected heart attack and was best known for his work with ATOMIC ROOSTER where he was lead singer on their Hit Singles 'Tomorrow Night' and 'Devils Answer' (which he wrote).
As a prolific songwriter and respected guitarist with his beloved Fender Telecaster John formed a number of significant psychedelic and progressive rock bands in the 60’s and 70’s including ATTACK, ANDROMEDA, BULLET and HARD STUFF. He also had a solo UK Hit Single in 1979 with 'Don’t Be a Dummy'
John also was in 1974 on a German Tour, guitarist with THIN LIZZY. In 1977 he paired with Francis Rossi of STATUS QUO to produce his solo album 'The World’s Not Big Enough'
In the early 80’s because of the dawning of NWOBHM he reformed ATOMIC ROOSTER with Vincent Crane and Paul Hammond (both of whom are now deceased) but by 1983 the band folded for the final time
Over the past 15 years he had been active working with Angel Air Records cataloguing and remastering his personal tape archive and compiling reissues for the label. He had just signed off for Angel Air the November 7th releases of two HARD STUFF albums 'Bulletproof' and 'Bolex Dementia' where he had just approved the sleeve notes and overseen the remastering of both albums.

I was remiss in remembering the passing of these 3 great bluesmen this year. from Wiki:
Joseph William Perkins (July 7, 1913 – March 21, 2011), known by the stage name Pinetop Perkins, was an American blues musician, specializing in piano music.
Willie "Big Eyes" Smith (January 19, 1936 – September 16, 2011)[1] was a Grammy Award-winning American electric blues vocalist, harmonica player, and multi-award winning drummer.
Hubert Sumlin (November 16, 1931 – December 4, 2011) was an American Chicago blues and electric blues guitarist and singer.
R.I.P Bluesmen, we miss you all and your music as well.

It says Bob Holness has passed away. Who will play the sax bit on 'Baker Street' now and will they play it at the funeral? Or should I say 'I'll have an RIP, please, Bob.'

Pete Waterman did a quite harsh but awfully accurate interview yesterday on the radio about Ms H and how stars in America get treated like royalty and surround themselves with very highly paid people who are there to say 'yes' to everything and this is the result.

A sad day in in Nightmare Village!
A coach returning from the village school skiing trip crashed early this morning and one of the teacher died.
Peter Rippington was a teacher from the "old school" in that he cared more about the children in his care than the score he got from Ofsted. I don't know what score he every got off Ofsted but I'm sure it didn't reflect his commitment.
I knew Pete because he taught my son and because he cared about my son and all the children in his care. Pete not only gave his time to school activities but also to kids Sunday football where he refereed, not that well as it happens but the good thing about him was that he always spoke to the players encouraging them and telling them why he made his decisions.
Peter's wife was also injured in the accident and we hope that she is okay.
Pete was born and breed in Alvechurch and spent most of his teaching career in the village, he taught some of the parents of the children currently at the school. He lived in the village and contributed to the village and will be missed.
Pete was due to retire in May!
Several other adults and children were injured in the crash, some seriously, and we hope that all will okay.
R.I.P. Peter Rippington

Bless her; sorry for your loss Catherine 91 indeed, our family seems set on raising the average lifespan of the Glaswegian!! She, I don't suppose, was really my Aunt - in that she married Mum's cousin - but in a family the size of Mum's it didn't matter - one more was no problem, in fact, the more the merrier!! She was Auntie to us and her children, two of whom predeceased her, were/are our cousins - that's family. Thanks Vic
