I don't believe a thread has been started about this band - that's hard to believe. Personally, they're in my top ten of all time. Their first two albums are too psychedelic for me, but once Bob Ezrin starting producing them - starting with "Love it to Death" they couldn't be stopped. "Killer", "School's Out", "Billion Dollar Babies" - that's four great albums in a row. (I can pass on Muscle of Love). Alice had a few good (not great) albums without "the band", but with Michael Bruce, Glen Buxton, Dennis Dunaway and Neal Smith, now that was the real Alice Cooper Sound. They were all great and creative musicians, and there's not too many bands you can say that about. Its difficult playing their songs unless you have two guitar players because they intertwine so well. What is your favourite Cooper tune? Have you ever seen them/him live? I saw him three years ago and couldn't believe how good his voice was. Much better than on my DVD of the Billion Dollar Babies tour. I guess quitting drinking will do that.

I love Alice's breakfast programme on Planet Rock weekday mornings, especially the Freaky Facts.
Who would have thought all those years ago when the newspapers were shouting about how disgusting he was and how he was 'corrupting the youth of today' (we enjoyed it, didn't do any harm) he would become a national treasure!!
My favourite track is Schools Out - but much prefer the Sahb version.

brilliant..............favourite being welcome to my nightmare, stunning album..........da da quality too, as is most of his early albums While I like the songs off that album, I much prefer the sound of the Alice Cooper band. Must say I bought it though, plus the one after that - Go to Hell, I think. I remember going to see the Welcome to the Nightmare movie at a local theatre at midnight when it came out.

I find it hard to pick from Love it to Death, Killer or Billion Dollar Babies. There's so many good tunes on each one. My favourite being Halo of Flies from Killer. Billion Dollar Babies is so polished - just about the perfect Alice Cooper album.

Those "young guns" certainly don't have the delicacy/subtlety/balance of the original band, but they know their stuff and I'm sure they're playing exactly like Alice wants them to. They didn't do "Halo of Flies" when I saw them, but the highlight for me was "The Ballad of Dwight Frye" - superb.

Alice...............Wot can I say......Except..Top guy....prob seen him close on 100 times, every UK visit since 1975...and he never dissapoints....yes he needs a wee kick up the arse re the setlist...but as a performer he just has to be up there with the best,So underrated its a sin, tours every year for about 9 months and plays a round of golf during the day.. I've been so lucky over the years with my music hero's, and had many adventures going to Cooper shows..Been lucky enough to meet him a few times and even watched a movie with him..Saw the 2 Halloween shows he just did in London a couple of weeks ago..Spectaculer..hope it turns into a yearly thing. He has just brought out a new dvd...and you can see my big mug in it quite a few times...He just seems to go on and on...and with my hand on heart...the performance he is giving these days are the best...Catch him if you can.. ..Oh and I put on the Debut UK solo gig of original Alice Cooper writer/performer Michael Bruce..I'm pretty proud of that!!... Alice is one of my heroes....
His new album Welcome 2 My Nightmare feats the original band on 2 songs and is produced by Bob Ezrin...
Impossible to choose an overall best Coop album, but The Last Temptation is an underated masterpiece.

Marilyn Manson was mentioned a few posts ago.....I remember when my eldest Kate bought one of his albums aged 13 and was so delighted to be listening to something so dark and edgy, the rebel! She told her poor clueless mother about the drug dealers and prostitutes who were allegedly part of the entourage........mother laughed like a drain to herself remembering Alice Cooper. He, he, he. Will Brian Warner still be around in 40+ years time still making decent music......I think not.
