Fabulous pictures Addy, London is always so alive - even in photos - you even caught the theatre where we saw Thriller back in April - so I guess you went past Little Sicily, where we had dinner before the show Thankyou Didn't go that far down the road near Little Sicily though.. will have to check it out ....was the food & drink good there? Against all expectation, Addy, yes the food was good, drink is hard to get wrong (my girls were on cocktails!! ) and the service is friendly and efficient, I'd happily go there again, for sure. Full of doubt at the outset because the theatre tickets were booked along with the meal as some kind of bargain deal - it could all have gone horribly wrong but I'm very glad indeed to say that it all went well!!

It looks like Abu Qatada might be going home soon. I will miss his cheery face and the contribution he has made to enrich these shores as part of our ethnic diversity. I wonder if he'll take his wives and kids with him. I wonder if the folks back home will recognise him. They'll probably start with 'Well tell us what you've been up to while you were away.'

OK my UK folks- exactly 1 week away from when my daughter leaves for your shores She'll be staying at Oxford- any advice; u kno; do's and dont's about London and such- any thoughts are welcome. Liz must be SQUEAKING with excitement!!
Really, Vittorio, as Liz is so well acquainted with New York, New York, I think she'll be just fine. The obvious rules for any big city, keep your money real close to you and beware shoulder surfers checking the contents of your wallet when you're buying something and don't walk along with a cell phone in your hand or at your ear.
I don't even think Liz will find London particularly busy or crowded or threatening in comparison with New York. Oxford is a very different kind of place but still a busy city.
London is always heaving with tourists and so is Oxford, especially during the summer months when the scholars take their laundry home to Mum!! In Oxford, beware of the many bicycles!!
I'm sure the great good common sense that you and Mama Stromboli have instilled in your beautiful daughter will stand her in excellent stead and that all will be well.
I'll email you my cell phone and landline numbers that Liz can call should she feel that she needs to, we're only a couple of hours' drive from the city of dreaming spires.
All the very best on your travels Liz, I guess your birthday this year will be extra special

Fabulous news Vic. Catherine is right about London being so very busy but probably comparable with New York and common sense rules the day, just like any bustling city. She will soon make loads of friends and will be very happy and it's so much easier for you to keep in touch with each other these days. Huge hugs to you all

Had another email from Liz, her mobile phone doesn't work here I dunno, we can put a man on the moon.....
Liz can come to the UK any ole time - she's brought some cracking weather with her; last time we went to Stonehenge, it was very warm with high humidity and a dark purple, grey/black sky.......most atmospheric; it'll be the oldest thing that Liz ever sees!!

Well, I've been and gone and done it; I've signed up for Facepaint, the balance was tipped by a site that one of the many Glen cousins, John, set up for his wife while she was undergoing radio and chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
I've posted on the guest book a fair few times and Catherine Glen the Younger (another cousin)(that's her maiden name) said she was surprised I wasn't on Facebook, she had found several cousins she didn't know she had.
John has also set up a private page for the family, looks like I have some catching up to do on that page!!
Now maybe I can find out what's so great about Facefarce!!
