Good morning. If the lady in question had an awful lot of long blonde hair and was sporting a custom made Chris Glen tee shirt - through which she thrust her adequate ampleness, with pride.........that is Elaine..........Chris' Missus. Yes, it WAS rather good, wasn't it. I'm sorry, I didn't record the set list or swipe one from the stage but Kim will doubtless furnish us with the facts on that score. Small crowd; brilliant atmosphere; flying by the seat of their not so tight nowadays pants, on minimal rehearsal (the sound check!!) Julian has won more hearts - musically - and although he is a very elegant and effortless player, almost less is more, gave it some MORE last night. Clever old SAHB, brought Stuart to do the sound - he really knows what they're about and did a great job - as ever. The mercury magic works almost every time; one thing is for sure, it certainly did last night. Good support, as ever, by just the best fans a band could ever wish, want, hope or pray for (apologies if I miss anyone out, didn't get home til 5am - brothers, eh! : The Four Amigos + 1 Lady Chelsea; Roger - who seems to be gay no longer - the attentions of a good and beautiful woman have turned him; My Lady Penny of Peacock Castle - led astray early in the day by the Amigos.......lucky she had her walking stick!!!! Sir Peter of Yonder Barrow was missed - we were thinking of you My Lord Peter. Zenmetal - YAY!!!!!! Buzz and Sarah and the La Belle Helen; Zigzagwanderer and Mrs Wanderer - my pleasure to meet you. Davey - whom I met at the 1st Convention; Huntvambo, the handsome Arctic Blonde, - gave the zoo a miss...........Trevor and his daughter, also from the 1st convention - turns out his daughter only went to see Zal.......but had a ball after all; Jim and Hannah - swathed in clouds of dry ice...........I thought it was The Grand Druid beaming down!!!!!! What an icing that cake would have had if BluesRider could have come along - that would have been even more fun!! Of course, Mike Drew.......what a star! Two wee girlies - unknown to each other at opposite ends of the gig - had never heard of the band and were BLOWN AWAY.....Emily, or was it Emma - come and join us sweetie and have some more fun!! We aslo have a convert with Mrs Chelsea - yay! Sorry, I'm rambling now and I know I've missed some..... very tired indeed. Suffice it to say - and I ALWAYS tell the truth - last night, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band did what it says on the tin............ it was a band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band was SENSATIONAL

Can only agree with Catherine, The SAHB played at their best, perhaps minimal rehearsing is better for Max, saves all the confusion! And Julian played a blinder.
Set list was, not necessarily in order:
Faith Healer Amos Moses Next Chef Gang Bang St. Anthony Buff's Bar Blues Framed Vambo Tomahawk Kid Delilah
PlatterPete got the the actual list so he can put it in order. Notable highlights being St. Anthony and Vambo.
All the usual suspects were present, what happened to bootsnall? Great to see everyone again and already looking forward to the next time.
But lets have a bit more publicity next time and get a few more people knowing what's going on!
Ian, Zenmetal, sends his regards to everyone and should be back on line soon.
Ginnie, Ian has almost got the SAHBStock DVD sorted just a few adjustments when his got the time and it should be available.

As has been said, the band were literally "Sensational" last night, and its a shame there weren't as many people at Dudley as the band deserved.
The band took to the stage at 9.48pm, with the customary stage introduction being made by a lady not unknown in these parts! And during the introduction, she did her best to stir up the crowd for the treat ahead. Nice job Catherine! You passed the audition!
Well, you wouldn't have guessed that the first rehearsal for the gig was soundcheck (at which they played most of Gang Bang, all of Complimets, part of Tomahawk and all of Faith Healer). From my vantage point halfway back, it looked and sounded like the band were on fine form, and like others, I must highlight Julian's playing - masterful. And of course the whole band were sensational throughout.
The setlist was: Faith Healer, Midnight Moses, Next, Amos Moses, Buff Bar Blues, St Anthony, Framed, Give My Compliments to the chef, Tomahawk Kid, Gang Bang, Vambo, with the encore being Delilah during which Max (in true Max- comic style I hasten to add) managed to mess up any attempt to do the dance! Oh, and Max was on stage late to start Delilah... what the heck was with his jacket hood thing?! I couldn't see too well from my vantage point... thankfully he quickly unzipped it and got his head out quickly to start the song! Gotta love Max, he's... well, y'know... mad!!
The set ended at 11:05pm.
Nice to see a few familiar faces and sell a few stripeys, though sorry to the guys who said goodbye as they were leaving afterwards, I was busy counting out so couldn't stop to say much - sincere apologies! Doing merch isn't just about selling the shirts, but making sure the numbers add up too! It's not all glamour! <LOL>
Anyway, long day yesterday. Was at work before 7am, then afternoon drive to Dudley, setting up and counting in, the show, count out and pack up, and drive home. Made it back to Leeds at 3am <yawn!> Ah well... 4 hours sleep has helped, slightly! Off to Newcastle a little later - for the folks going to that show, you are in for a TREAT! And last but not least, thanks SAHB for the show last night, you can't beat quality live music and quality musicianship

A great show by the band indeed. Made a balls up of getting to the venue. Found myself on the M6 toll road which was not my intention. Oh those heady youthful days past when one could talk and drive at the same time without getting lost . It cost the princely sum of £3.70p to get off. Oh! how I laughed. The plan was to stop for sustenance en route but, alas, unplanned de-tours tend to interfere with such delights. Anyway, having finally arrived at said venue, after a marvellous tour of a nearby housing estate, Mrs W had to make do with eating Nobby's nuts. I'm sure Nobby was delighted. A stripey was purchased for Mrs W who reluctantly took the advice of a rather brave gentleman and bought the size larger than she initially requested, not something I would have dared to do ;D Also purchased the Live '76 tour CD which gave me goosebumps as I listened just this morning. Was delighted to meet Catherine even though the band were on stage and conversation was limited, also met Chelsea Rob,who lets face it, was less than inconspicuous in that shirt, although I'm not sure he will remember our brief meeting as I think it fair to say, alcohol had passed his lips The Band were fantastic. Hard to work out how many were there as it is quite a large room, but certainly not enough to witness a great live band with fabulous songs. We on here all know this so its easy to say 'their loss' to 'music fans' who do'nt go and see for themselves. My main concern would be that such small audiences may also lead to 'our loss' eventually. I suppose if anything a smaller venue would have been better and there are a couple in the Crewe area ( ;)Ahem!) one of which the band has played to packed houses as most of you know. Mrs W 'peeled back the years' ha ha, and danced the night away in her own fashion, presumably still high on the nectar that is Nobby's nuts! We would have loved to stay on a while after the gig and perhaps met a few more devotees of this wonderful unique band which we all love but Mrs W is in the part time employ of Tesco the Mighty and was expected at work at 4 45 am having failed to arrange a 'shift swap' with any of her work'mates'. Revenge will be sweet when the time comes. So back north we went, without diversion I have to say(buffs finger nails on lapel having loved every minute of it. It was reminiscent of our youth, Out watching a band, longish drive home talking of our favourite SAHB tunes/ gigs etc. Mind you, when we got home Mrs W went for a couple of hours kip and I made myself a corned beef sandwich and watched the TV. Nostalgia eh!

can anyone please tell me how to get 15 pints of guinness and 6 cans of red stripe out of my stripey.apparently, according to my mate i was abit the worse for wear by the end of the show. i would like to appologise to hugh and chris backstage just in case i did anything embarrassing. they've probably seen it all before anyway. despite being extremely ill yesterday i would happily do it all again. 35 years i waited to meet the lads and now i can't remember very much. thanks for great music and a fantastic atmosphere.

Entertaining post Mr Zigzag, thank you! And I took my life into my hands with the sizing of a stripey for your wife? In my defence, I was warning everyone who asked about them that the sizings of those shirts was on the small size! I guess she wasn't too offended, as none of my tyres had been let down and no bricks through my windscreen when I went to drive home afterwards! <LOL> Kim (in Leeds)

Dudley was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Got to the venue at about 6pm, and sat on the bonnet of my car listening to the soundcheck. They ran thru Faith Healer, Gang Bang and a particularly barnstorming Chef (yay!). Things were looking good. Then, off to the hotel to meet up with the gang - always good to see huntvambo, platterpete, a delightfully "refreshed" chelsearob, Catherine, Colin, the lovely Penny and the rest of the SAHB Mafia - good people one and all! Forgive me if I missed some names - it was a pleasure to be with yez all Catherine kindly carted me over to see Chris, and being the total fanboy that I am, I just basked in his greatness for a few seconds and slightly soiled the ZeeEm jeans. That was a joke, BTW. Cough. Gig-time, so we all trotted off to JB's. That's a pretty big room right there. Caught the end of Deborah Bonham's set - they sounded *very* good, and then onto mah boyz.... My first full-bore SAHB experience - not let down in any way. The boys sounded marvellous - big whacking bottom end from Chris & Ted - these guys are so tight, surely they were seperated at birth - glorious keys from Hugh, and genuinely gob-smacking guitar runs from Julian. I have to make a big shout-out for Julian's performance - he was *totally* respectful, yet injected enough "Julian" to take his performance WAY above a copy-cat/time-marking exercise. Major kudos to him. ...and Maxxxxx - a natural performer if ever there was one, well on form even if his vocals were a wee bit low in the mix. Gotta love Max. The setlist speaks for itself - executed brilliantly, a jaw-dropping combo of power and finesse. What a fecking great band this is. Then, back to the hotel for a chinwag with the nighthawks - a wonderful night, all in all. Cheers all! ZM

A few notes about Fridays gig. The show as usual was SENSATIONAL the ale in The Half Moon was very good, the Sahbsters were as friendly as usual and the re-union of the Amigos was long overdue. 2 other points though what does" delightfully refreshed" mean? and why does the station hotel charge £4.70 for a tot of rum? Till the NEXT time

Thanks Zenmetal I cant remember where exactly I met you but I met so many people who for some reason already knew my name lol. My "delightful refreshment" came over a long 12 hour period so depending on where I met people I might have looked slightly worse for wear. The funniest incident came in JB's toilet where somebody came up to me and said "hello Rob" I asked him how he knew me ?. After which the discussion moved to Glenn Hughes where I seranaded him over the trap door as he didnt know any of his songs. It was at this point I realised I was a little bit more refreshed than I should be!!!
