After witnessing the excellent, theatrical NOTSAHB in Glasgow last week ( great entertainment guyz, welcome back anytime).......... it was time for the Glasgow-based Tribute to SAHB to take stage again. It was held in a huge marquee tent in Drymen, nr Glasgow infront of 300 bikers at their annual "Mutineers Rally' weekend....... Bikers seemed to love SAHB in the 70's.....last night was no different. Tents, Bikes, Hell's Angels , biker-chicks, rock music/nostalgia and alcohol .....it was an expirience.
A large number of the crowd sang EVERY word. A female cousin of ALEX' shook hands and thanked Richy for his 'incredible portrail' of one of her family. A biker told me he wasn't a particular fan of SAHB in the 70's, but has changed his mind totally. 'That show' was amazing he said. A crowd gathered at the back of the tent to ' pass comment and talk SAHB', my favourite pastime. It's all about remembering and enjoying the great contribution SAHB made to rock music..... and even shaped some of our lives.
But the highlight for me (apart from the honour of 'playing' Chris Glen again) was the girl in her late 20,s who had NEVER seen anything like it. She went on about how amazing the songs were, each with a 'story.' She couldn't keep her eyes off what was going on onstage etc............. THEN she phoned ( some producer and Manager of The Dykinis ??)..... to tell him to SIGN and RECORD this band she's found !! ;D ;D.... She thought we were originals ! THAT , for me, shows that SAHB music can STILL be relevant to younger people if they get exposure to it.
Here's a couple of clips that 'Zal 2's' girlfriend Michelle took with my wee camera last night.
What a week........ Ian's discovery or the Amos film and a successful Tribute-band gig........... A SAHB-week to remember.
