I don't know how big Halloween is across the pond (going the other way) but if anybody is going to Halloween parties or getting dressed up, this is the place for your pics. I only have a few to start it off. BTW I am going to a Halloween party next week and will have some good pics for ya all. Me as Bud the Zombie, my wife as a cat: Me as Groucho Marx, my (former) brother in law as a lady: Don't tell my mom! My brother Gerry as a rock'n roller, my Mom is Aunt Jemima!

I guess you guys don't have Halloween over there? They're trying to give us Halloween mate but some (most?) of us are resisting its less than subtle charms. I suspect resistance is futile though, the trick or treaters will be round but its a bit like begging over here at the min. Non of the extrovert goings on as seen on T V across the water. Hope you have a good time at yours

I think that Halloween is just such a great excuse to have a party where you can dress up like whatever you want and act real weird and stuff. Oh, wait, that's normal life - well, like that only more so! Got yer pumpkins out? Mine is...

I see in todays Sunday Herald that a Movie is to be made about Isobel Goudie and the producer says he's a big fan of the SAHB track. Tilda Swinton and Brian Cox among the cast apparently. Theme song for the movie perhaps ?

Looks like you had a great time Ginnie! Got any more photos, you looked great!
Zigzag and Catherine are right though, its not really something thats celebrated ALL that much over here and if it is its just the youngsters that bother. Its very frowned upon in schools, I know that from working in one myself. To judge by the crap you can buy in the shops for a month before hand you would think it was very popular. Also trick or treating IS seen as begging, people tend to just go to relatives or friends houses. I know I wouldn't open the door to any kids myself, unless I knew them.

Most school here let you dress up in a Halloween costume the last school day before Halloween. Even a lot of people working in supermarkets or department stores and other workplaces can dress up too. And trick or treating seen as begging? Wow. Now that really is different. Also not opening your door unless you knew the kids. We didn't have a busy night last night - only had about twenty kids trick or treating. So I guess I'll have to eat all the leftover chocolate bars. But I do know some people who had 100-150 kids at their door!

But I do know some people who had 100-150 kids at their door! Honestly Ginnie, it really was frowned on in the school I worked in, anyone turning up with halloween anything would have had it confiscated till the end of the day. I don't know of any high schools that would let pupils dress up either. Its to do with it being seen as anti-religion. I wouldn't open the door to kids I didn't know because where we lived before even if you gave them a treat they would still do something mean, like egg your car or front door. ( It was the same horrible kids for years, the little shits used to do carol singing too!! They weren't small children. ;D) No one would dream of letting their kids go round the doors to strangers. I'm horrified that people would let their kids do that. We have a tradition of Firework Night (Nov 5th) too and years ago, children used to make a 'Guy Fawkes' out of old clothes and a mask and put him in a pushchair and stand outside shops, pubs, etc and ask passers by for 'A penny for the Guy', to collect money to buy fireworks, (probably '£5 for the Guy' now!), but that was considered begging by a lot of people too. I expect that is a tradition thats died out now, unless anyone knows otherwise?
