I voted 'who cares' cos tbh I don't anymore. Too many good people no longer post to any sort of length, I'm as guilty as the next man mind and I don't see it changing. I have a lot of interaction with SAHB fans old and new (to me anyway) on Facebook, so maybe that is the way forward. Thanks Pete

Because SAHB ain't American. Oh right. That does seem a leetle mean if you ask me. Isn't there a British version? Oh, it has nothing to do with meanness at all. The States is the home of rock'n roll -where it was born and raised. So there's a lot of folks in the Hall of Fame who were instrumental in making that rock'n roll happen. They may seem obscure selections to you folks over there. On the other hand, some bands were huge in the U.K. but never made much of an impact in the States - SAHB, T. Rex, Mott the Hoople... These three would surely be in a U.K. Rockn'roll Hall of Fame. And just think - Alice Cooper just made it in this year, and that's one of the most influential groups ever. If Canada had a Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame you'd see The Guess Who, Steppenwolf, Rush, Max Webster and Tragically Hip in there. Oh, lets take Rush for example. They surely have had a long and glorious career spanning decades but I doubt it if they will ever be considered for The Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame.

I had forgoten that Alice Cooper only made it in this year. About time too, he's not getting any younger!!

Maybe we're just a bit too precious about this wee forum - no-one expects you to lie, just either post, or don't, it's all up to you - enjoy Facebook while you can!!

In my experience Facebook has had a huge effect on forums like this one. I'm not particularly a regular/one of the in crowd, so can't comment on it's impact here but other forums I'm a member of have declined substantially since the rise of Facebook. I'm a particular fan of an American country artist and have been posting on her forums for over ten years. In that time I have seen the post count decrease from a few hundred to a dozen or so new posts in a week. People there have commented the same, that it's a result of other social network sites like Facebook and Twitter. I've always resisted joining these sites because I'm one of those guys who prefers to keep things in their respective pigeon holes. The only forum I post on that hasn't seen any decline in traffic is my local football teams message board. Like ZZW touched upon, football forums seem to continue to thrive and I have often wondered if this is a gender related thing?

I think FB is definitely affecting all forums...and pretty hard....I mean we all love SAHB on here right......well for example on FB you can interact with Zal & Ted daily....they post stuff all the time.....you sadly cant do that here ( of coarse we could if they chose to ) or on most other forums...I myself use it a lot coz its a very good information highway, informing you of all your interests and friends news etc, folk now updated from their phones ...it is an instant form of communication...But don't think its just this forum..I see its the same on other ones as well......Plus folk like me don't help...I come on this forum 2-3 times a day and read most of the posts...But I don't log in...so it looks like I am never here..A lot of folk do that....We love this wee forum and it will be what it is,folk will come and go but it will still be here a good wee while yet....I reckon.. ;D Cheers4now md

The Guardian is on duty! And thank goodness for him!!
You see, if not for the regulars that we do have, lurkers and posters alike, come and go as they may, the lifeblood of the forum would just drain away or congeal and never flow again.
Most of our good home folks manage to juggle this forum with at least one other and Facebook as well - I'm probably the only one, besides Mehrtsfan, who has nothing to do with Facebook - I just don't see the point.
I hear what Mike is saying but if I want to talk to someone, I call them, if I want someone to know I'm thinking of them, I write, email or text them; those with whom I care to be in touch are on my phone, land and cell, or in my address book, or on my birthday and Christmas card lists, just at the end of a pen.
A fabulous example of one of our number is The Guardian himself, Sir Gin Ginnie McGinster of Topsail Colony, Honorary Scot and Knight Defender of the Realm of All Vibrania - most of us know at least some of the hurdles with which life has tried to make him trip, falter and fall - but he hasn't. He likes this wee forum and when it hits a bit of a slough of despond, he increases his activity and starts great new threads.
He is not alone in this loyalty or kind of action, to re-state the point I made in a previous post, APATHY will be the fatal dagger, dipped in the lethal poison of negativity, in the heart of this forum.
Not the personal life issues that sometimes take us away for a couple of weeks, not the clashing of character that is bound to surface in such a small group of big personalities and firm held opinions and beliefs, not anything else that you can think of, just APATHY.
I'm the first to say that we can sometimes be a little precious about this forum; after all it IS only a forum - aha!! I think not!! To those who regularly read and/or contribute it is a gem and a joy of a small, yet perfectly formed, social network site and the sooner it's recognised as such, perhaps the better it will be treated by its members.
Let Facebook do its worst - was not Goliath slain by David? Or to put in in more of a musicista parlance "ain't no mountain high enough", apathy and negativity never conquered anything nor did it ever do any good anytime or anywhere in the world.
There is room a-plenty on here for just about everything and everyone else - but if there really was a Queen of Vibrania - I'm sure she would ban the heinous, unflattering and completely unnecessary traits of apathy and negativity.

I know I dont post here much, but thats because I struggle to find anything to post to. When I first joined I joined in with gusto.
Then my health problems started .
Whatever.
But I seriously find no topics I want to say anything about.
And I am no longer on Facebook.
