Good to see Chris join with the new lineup of the Michael Schenker Group on 'Doctor Doctor' when supporting Black Country Communion. Three bassists on stage at one time - CG, Pete Way and the bloke from the new MSG lineup.
Saw Chris Slade arrive and he was standing at the back blending in with the crowd near the end - wanted to say 'hello' but looked as if he was enjoying the anonimity!
Saw MSG with CG and CS in Newcastle a couple of years back and that was a wonderful night - not overly impressed with the current lineup which looks as if it's stuck in an '80s timewarp - although one of the new songs was superb.

Just for you James - he really is a great guy and would have happily said hi
We saw the band a week past on Friday, at the Robin, the first gig of the tour; arriving just in time for the sound check and meeting up with Doogie White and his lady wife and Neil Murray, (Spike popped up as well) with whom we went for some pub grub - I thought it was really nice the way people came up to Neil and shook his hand and said how much they enjoyed his work, he is a very gentle and quiet man but I'm sure he was pleased to autograph discs and say a few words.
I thorougly enjoyed the show and, for Michael Schenker it was much more of a show than usual. He really took an active part, joining with the others mid stage and making what seemed to be a concerted effort to stand up straight and smile. It's well known that he usually only brightens up when Chris strides in and bellows "Awright, Wullie?" (Chris has called him that since Michael's spikey blond 80's hairstyle brought Oor Wullie from the Sunday Post cartoon to mind - he's the only one that gets away with it!!)
I thought the performance was vibrant, lively and energetic; Wayne usually is anyway; Elliot (Mr Dean Guitars) is a terrific bass player and he was a joy to watch; Herman the German did a good job on drums and also joined in with the "doing a show" feel that the gig had - mind you, they were not a support act at the Robin, they did a full set and I think 3 encores.
Pete Way, what a star!! Really VERY nearly lost his UFO signature striped trousers - no REALLY, during his first number (he is a little on the frail side and only played on four numbers) he is a darling fellow and the sell out crowd roared for him louder than for anyone else.
Many thought he wouldn't play as an ambulance had been seen at the venue earlier - ARF!!! Poor Pete, he says that half the folk only come to see if he dies on stage - well, he didn't!!
Michael Voss on vocal (guest spot by the fabulous Doogie White) was, in my opinion, so very much better than Gary Barden - now HE seems to stuck in a time warp, with his "bad Dad dancing" - MV has a fantastic rock scream voice and I LOVE IT!!!! He also has a guitar solo........Mr Schenker is really making the effort here to put on a show - and it is as Michael Schenker, with his UFO looky like line up.
If the band is billed as MSG, it shouldn't be, MSG has CG, CS & GB in it - I think Michael is just trying to keep it fresh and entertaining - and I think it just might be working.
ps after the Pete Way sliding right down trouser episode, Svend, the tour manager said with a very straight face - "we're going to get him a teeshirt that says 'say NO to crack'!" ARF!!!!!!

Great photograph and report, Catherine!
I met Chris Slade about 6 years ago when he was with the John Payne version of Asia and he was a great bloke, signed about half a dozen things I brought along. Wonderful drummer.
