Thanks for posting the link Ginnie, very interesting read and beautiful photos of the remaining search dogs.
What both humans and dogs saw on that day and the weeks afterwards really doesn't bear thinking about.

I've heard people say everyone knows where they were when they heard that John Lennon had been shot. I don't remember that but I remember in great detail where I was and how I watched this unfold.

Me too - Teaching in Mrs. Evans Reception Class, Lakeside Primary School. Didn't hear about it until the parents came to pick their kids up at the end of the school day. My girls were in High School then and had been watching it on tv all day, there were no lessons as everyone was in so much shock.

Thanks Ginnie, a real feel good factor from the most dreadful, unimaginable of situations.
Not to demean the thread but I was in a chemistry class in 1st (maybe 2nd) year in high school when Bobby Kennedy was shot. (remember the JFK shooting but not in detail)
I had just been driven home from the pub, when it came on the radio that Elvis had died.
In a hairdresser's in Wembley, heard about John Lennon on the radio.
Lockerbie, I was back in our family home, the night before Mum's funeral, when a cousin called from the north of England to apologise, he may be late for the service......then he explained.
9/11 I was at work and Colin called to tell me, he had seen it on tv in the car showroom, while waiting for a vehicle.
Feeling very - hmm, haven't got the right word but, God bless all who have gone before us and he better check his stock of doggie treats - he'll have some real canine heroes to treat.

Thanks for posting Ginnie. I couldn't read when I first saw because it still gets me upset thinking about that day. I of course wanted the entire arse end of the world commonly known as the middle east retired permanently because I don't know anyone from there and couldn't care less if they all are obliterated along with anything and everything to do with those heartless bastards. But that didn't happen, unfortunately for the world, the disease called Islam was allowed to exist to do more damage. Much worse than polio, malaria or AIDs it will continue to take the lives of innocent people for no reason but for power and money. The photos of the rescue dogs did bring a modicum of calm to the horrendous story of those days searching for survivors. Sorry about the rant, it was long overdue, and much nicer than what I really would like to write.
