Whoops I've taken the thread off on a tangent, A good friend of mine is obsessed with vinyl, and has spent a small fortune on hi-fi to get the best from it, electrostatic speakers, valve amps, the cartridge alone cost over £1000, the turntable is made from granite, and I must say, I've never heard music better, it's an aural orgasm! lucky sod owns a hi-fi shop so has access to the best equipment, and solid state equipment can't touch it, however, you can now get valve driven CD players, I know it's a bit like steam driven Ferarri's, but that would slow Clarkson down having to tow a trailer full of coal! The band I was in used valve amps, huge and very heavy "Matamps" with Orange speaker cabs, wonderful tone and when cranked up had a great rasp that would make your rib cage rattle. Sorry going off thread again. Cassettes were unreliable, anyone out there use 8 track cartridges?

Chester, Ah yes, posters and lyric sheets, wouldn't get decent ones with your poxy cd's! Ive still got a stencil of a clenched fist that came with the Tom Robinson Band's album 'Power In The Darkness'. It had strict instructions not to use it on public property. Lol. My girls told me that they had seen it sprayed on the lockers in their school....wonder if its still there. is that the one with"two four six eight motorway" & "Glad to be Gay" on? I think Tom was one of the first openly gay singers, whilst others were still trying to hide their true sexuality, and in the late seventies gay-bashing was still prevalent so it was a brave thing to do Neither of those songs are on the album that I have got, maybe there were different pressings though? Both great songs. 'Glad To Be Gay' always reminds me of seeing the band in the late 70's with a school friend, we sang at the tops of our voices when the band played it....much to the concern of the people around us...perhaps it was our singing!! Tom was definetly very brave back in the days when even wearing an earring in the 'wrong' ear could get a person a beating. Now I'm off thread....oops! Thread Polis!!

I've been slowly getting my SAHB vynil collection back together. Horror of horror's I sold it to go on the piss back in the 90s and have regretted it ever since... I catch them occasionally in flea markets over here. So far I've got Framed, Next, Impossible Dream & Stories.
