Hello Fellow SAHB fans!
I am a big SAHB fan, and have a question regarding the "Stories" album. Does anyone know what bar/location that the Album art cover was taken in? I'd really like to visit that place. I stay in Glasgow, but don't think i've come across it in this city (unless the bar no longer exists!)

Hi Paul and welcome aboard!!
I have a vague memory of Ted saying once that it was taken in the Biba Bar, I can't remember any more than that, other than it was iin London.........like I said, I have a vague memory - about most things!!
Having concluded that that was all too vague, I rang Chris and he says.....yes, the pic was taken in the Biba bar by Gerd Mankowich, who has done covers for the Stones et al; the pic was meant to "replicate", or at least suggest the Manet picture of the bar at the Moulin Rouge;
Biba was all the rage at the time, clothes make up all the latest gear; the London store was in Kensington High Street and the bar was on the top level of it.
Howzat?!

I had no idea there was a Biba Bar, how very fancy! Shame it wasn't a Glasgow pub, oh, the photographic opportunities that have been missed! Great info though, well done Catherine and well done the Boss of Bass aka Mr. Memory!

Hey Catherine and Penny!
Appreciate the accurate and detailed reply, excellent! Shame the bar is no longer open, I really wanted to visit it.
I often wonder what bars Alex used to regularly attend. It would be nice to visit these places, I wonder if there is still some of the SAHB feel in the air.
Thanks, Paul
P.S Vambo rules!

The inspiration for that shot....... Chris gave me a black Biba top, with huge puffy sleeves that had a drawstring at the wrist and, of course, that all important iconic Biba logo, in gold on the front; we provincials in Glasgow could only dream of going to Biba; THEN, my best friend from school visited her auntie in Oxford during school hols - AND had a trip to London.................YAY!! she brought me back a purple mascara from Biba................VERY daring, at the time!! Ah, memories!! I can't remember where I saw it but the Biba logo is back!!

Fab photos Catherine. It was a Biba free zone in Cardiff too. Sigh. It looks so wonderfully glamarous. Far beyond the pocket of us ordinary mortals these days, I occasionaly go with my sister to gasp at the prices if their merch....and that's un the sales!! LOL

I agree with you, all you need is the fans and the air is set! Have you guys seeen NOT SAHB? I saw them in the Glasgow Ferry last year and they were really good, captured the original sound, and Zal Cleminson was also present in the crowd. Unfortunately, it looks like i'm going to be away working for their next gig in May.

I saw them in the Glasgow Ferry last year and they were really good, captured the original sound, and Zal Cleminson was also present in the crowd. Unfortunately, it looks like i'm going to be away working for their next gig in May. I was there - I don't think I've missed any Nots gigs in Scotland - except one in Dundee and one in Edinburgh - I think they are sensational!!
That was the gig where Zal came along, because, at the time there was a real danger that the NOTS would not play together again - you can only imagine the personal expense of getting themselves to and from Switzerland and hiring equipment here and so on. So, as Zal's Gal my darling Rachel was already in Scotland attending a seminar or somesuch, we said we would swing by Barnsley and bring Zal up with us, he could then go home with Rachel - neat plan!! That, then, was what came to pass.
I was dropped off at the hotel while Colin and Zal went down to the Ferry, to introduce Zal to the band (NOT Alex had already met him in February and was well up for hugely surprising NOT Zal!!)
It worked a treat!!
Mike Drew came to the hotel and the guys scooped up Rachel, then we went for a Brazilian (MEAL ) just across from the hotel, NOT Alex and Kat (bass player and cameraperson supreme) joined us - then - off to the gig.
You know the rest - you were there!! I was the silly old trout in a stripey top (!!! really!!!) waving "Alex at the Palace" tee shirts about from the stage, assuring you that they were very this season!!!
