I have been playing the 2cd reissues of the SAHB albums this morning, and I'm glad they exist. . . BUT, the transfers leave a lot to be desired and there is a distinct lack of any extras etc. So what would YOU include if you were compiling new much needed re-masters in the way of extras? And is there much left in the can that can be added? Just wondering as I Have had to dig the vinyl back out, (The Swirl lp of Framed had more "Baws" than the cd versions for a start as Buffs Bar Blues is spinning right now and sounds mighty on the old Sondek!) does the 45 versions of Buffs and Jungle Jenny have different nixes etc? Just wondering what fans would include and what else is there. I never understood why A Glasgow Apollo show wasn't used for the Live lp for a kick off. B x

And No Complaints Dept. should that ever be issued? I do like it, its powerful but obviosuly a very stark confessional as well.

I was playing SAHB all day yesterday, looking through old music paper cuttings and searching Google images for some pictures, I managed to find a good scan of the back cover for "Fourplay" which I could use for the CD I had made....and I didn't even realise what the date was today, what a coincidence! 32 years ago...Jeez oh. Anyways, after a Google search I accidentally saw that the first 6 albums (no "Sahb Stories" or "Rock Drill") have been released (29th Jan. 2014) on Cardboard Sleeve(mini LP)high-fidelity SHM-CD Japanese 24bit remasters. I have heard a few of these Japanese releases, (Bowie, Alice Cooper, Van Morrison) and the sound quality is excellent. There are no extra tracks etc. but as the quality of all previous SAHB cd's has been very poor I think they might be worth checking out. Ebay is currently selling them but they are coming from Japanese sellers and cost round about £20.

Well I may as well come clean, I work for a reissue label, but we have been asked by Universal to research SAHB, about maybe getting some new remasters out there with bonus tracks. We have contacted chris and ted to keep the band in the loop, This is very early days though. As we will ensure that we get great packages out there that SAHB deserve. We4 will need the boards help with maybe locating rare stuff etc. At the moment we are trying to find a song called Swing King Cookie can anyone help?! b x

Long overdue Brian, I would love to see really good SAHB reissues...
Buff's Bar Blues and Sultan's Choice b-sides are totally different to the album versions. Anthem b-side is an instrumental edit Soul In Chains b-side is an out-take from the live lp [2 others were issued on a free cd with hardback Sahb Story] Most of the singles A-sides are edits which don't really do the songs any justice. Delilah A side has some Alex overdubs not on the lp version. Jungle Jenny A-side is said to be a different mix but I can't hear it.
One track often forgotten is that live version of 'Saint Anthony' from one of the Tear Gas reissues. That might be a nice bonus on Framed. 'Harp' too.

I never liked those 2CD reissues. Stupid way of releasing the albums. I recently bought the japanese mini-LP versions and they look fantastic. And sound good (although I have to admit I have not listened to the 2CD versions in a long time so I cannot really compare them). One thing I did notice though was that Cheek To Cheek was complete on the japanese cd (as on the original vinyl), while I remember it bizarrely fades out on the 2CD version.

I don't know why it was missing from the CD and I really miss it.

I don't hear anything wrong with the original 92/93 Vertigo cds, and I've had sets of all releases including vinyl.
The only attraction for me would be hi-rez 24/96 from the original master tapes, from Qboz etc...
