Hi,
I've been filling some gaps in my Alex Harvey 60s collection lately (always been interested at the many varied types of music he did in the sixties), which previously consisted of the original soul band album on CD (the original one with Kingsize Taylor's band backing), the Bear Family CD of the same name from 1999, the Teenage A Go Go CD, and the Considering the Situation comp. Favourites are probably Hair, from Considering the Situation, and a few from Teenage A Go Go (his version of Wicked Messenger is cool, and also like Marie Bailey, Dance of the Green Scarab (Giant Moth?) and others). I also love the guitar playing also on Reelin' and Rockin' and Hoochie Coochie Man from the Bear Family disc.
Last week I finally picked up the Roman Wall Blues album (CD), and am liking the sound of that so far. Then noticed his cover of ISB's Maybe Someday was available as a MP3 download on Amazon, so bought that (nice!), and today the Hair Rave Up CD arrived.
There are a few more things available on CD that I'm planning to buy. Just ordered Joker Is Wild and the Rock Workshop one there. It looks like Hairband Band on the Wagon has been reissued, but on vinyl, which I'm not keen on (albeit I see it seems to all be on youtube).
I was wondering if Alex is on the 1968 Polydor Hair album with the original London cast at all?
I'm also keen to hear any singles, b-sides and the likes that aren't currently available on CD. Found a few on youtube, but still several I haven't managed to get a swatch at thus far.
Enjoyed reading through some of the other threads - found the forum via the Band on the Wagon thread.
Cheers,
Richard.
