Well it looks like I am the only one up and out of bed!! ;D What a day/night. Despite the biting cold , everyone met in the Railway..wel apart from Pete Barrow, who was wandering around in the marquee outside asking people had they seen any of these (points to his SAHB T.shirt!!).....he drew a blank and therefore miseed the gang who were actually inside the pub watching the fabulous !! Jalapeanos...sorry guys not my cuppa ...anyway severa;l text messages later we are all heading along by invitation to the "sound check" What an honour and a privelage to see It gave all the board members the opportunity to meet and chat quietly without beer being poured down your neck in the very packed Railway. Sound check over and across the road for some chips.. Catherine managed to get Victor 55 on the phone in New York and Jim Hannah Craig Penny RichardWidmark Hunt Vambo and Myself all had a wee chat with him...shame he couldn't understand R.W....I think he opened the conversation ... "Ay up chuck ows weather ova thea?"........Victor then told him...I dont understand you..I only understand American English !! !! .back into venue to get front tables...yeah I know its sounds naff for those that were not there...but believe me as soon as the support went off....THE JALAPEANOES....AGAIN !!! noooooooooo.....the Sahbsters moved forward on to the dance floor and with no secuirty rail we were all able to get as close as we DARED...to Max.... ;D Show opened with Faith Healer and Max wearing the most amazing "creation"...he had been busy with the knitting needles.....he had made a jacket to go with the lovely hat I gave him 2 years ago...you know the one that makes him look like a chicken...he had the place in uproar !! Didn't manage to get a setlist but I will try and remember it in no particular order: St Anthony Gang Bang Chef Last of the Teenage Idols Tommahawk Kid...which Chris dedicated to Penny and Hannah Vambo Next Delilah Framed Boston Tea Party If I forgot any tunes....please forgive me...I was having such a fantastic time. The band were on fire ...the sound...well done Jim...was amazing and the light show just awesome. Just uploading photos now...so will try and put a few on later. Now....Julian...Where do I start. Well he isn't Zal....that's for sure nobody could replace Zal IMHO BUT.........He was GORGEOUS.....very very easy on the eye...and a very very accomplished guitarist, who played exceptionally well. He came on bare foot, T shirt, Jeans and a very sexy long sleeved shirt. Visually..Bowie...and had one of those faces that you just couldn't put an age to...from one angle he looked a boy ...from another a man. He didn't "biggy it up"...nor try to be Zal...and for that , personally, I am glad about. Chris was a stalwart in holding the whole show together and helping and encouraging Julian at all the right points. The songs were all played as originally written , which went down a storm with , I think all fans present. and do you know what...In all honesty and I loved seeing them play with Zal, and nobody was more upset than me and Dave when we heard the news, BUT....that is the happiest and most relaxed on stage I have seen the band for years. I think this line up, If it works for the guys, I know logistically they are all over the country, worked a treat for the fans and I for one would not hesitate to carry on going to the shows to watch the SENSATIONAL ALEX HARVEY BAND. It was an honour an a pleasure to meet: Jim Hannah Paul Mark Tom Craig Penny Pete M.D. Buzz Sarah Helen RichardWidmark Geddy Bear Sahbotage Pete Barrow Malcom in the Middle and Eillen Catherines hubbie Colin...What fabulous fabulous people...one big happy smiley family...and all thanks to SAHB !! Fianlly a MASSIVE MASSIVE "Thank You" to Catherine a loving shepherd put here on this earth to look after "nice" board members and to keep us all safe . Well thats all from me folks I am sure all the other guys will post their reviews as soon as they get home....ME...I'm off to see the Virginmarys now in Macclesfield... Happy Easter to one and all. Sue x

The whole band were on top form. Relaxed and happy with a superb set and Julian just outstanding. Enjoyed the whole evening as much if not more than any other SAHB gig we've been to. Here's hoping for more !

New poster here, ow do all. Not seen the band for a couple of years and thought Zal would be hard to replace, but they got away with it without the wonderful and much missed Alex(it seems like a lifetime since I saw them play at Northwich memorial Hall) so anything is possible..... Last nights gig was fantastic, they HAVE to keep going. Wonderful stuff.

Not to much to add but a brilliant night, great to meet more of the faithful and put faces to names. Great to see the (much) younger generation comin into the clan; sonofthewidmark and son of zalrools. Was Zal missed? Of course he was, in the same way that Alex is still missed, but not as much as I expected. Musically Julian was right up there but the right hand part of the stage didn't have that demonic presence that Mr. Cleminson affected but you attention is now more focused on Max and Chris. It was also good to see Hugh havin more room on the stage rather than stuck up the left hand corner as he usually appears to be. Will I continue to travel to see The SAHB? Given the opportunity most definitely and I hope those that couldn't make it this time get the chance in the not too distant future. Which brings us onto the question ~ What NEXT? Almost forgot Once again much thanks to Catherine, you do look after us well

Besides his terrific self (as musician & person) Julian bestowed upon us a violinist! Wes took the stage in white tie and tails and took Next right to where it belongs - just added back that dimension that's been missing since way back when. (even more eye candy for the girlies) Jim Brady, sound man extrodinaire and "Crane" did a fabulous job - as always with the sound and the techy in the wings thing. These lads work hard and it just couldn't be done without men of their amazing good nature and undoubted skill and ability. FoxyAl brought his 10 year old son Michael with him and just in time to catch the end of the sound check - I think Michael enjoyed the evening - once he got more used to be overwhelmed every time he turned round! He had a spell on stage, right behind Ted, with Crane's big blue ear defenders on - I think Alan got a proud Dad shot of that as well as one of Michael, before the gig, posing in front of the drum kit. Max, in his Glorious Technicolour Emu Hoodie - he is a star! The laughter when he took down the hood after the first number to reveal the aforementioned by Sue matching hat - it's more like a punk wig than an Easter chick - he's just full of fabulous humour and theatricality, we love our Maxxxxxxxxx. To the real loyal fans who battled through blizzards, stole their sons away from their mothers, defied the civic hall jobsworths, those whom I've met before and those that made themselves known to me yesterday - thankyou. I'll never tire of saying it, you know and undersatnd by now, that the band won't send out thankyou letters to you or become as patronising as to post a blanket thankyou on the forum after every gig - however, from the heart of my bottom (which is bigger than the bottom of my heart) I thank you for continuing to support, through troubled times and into triumph - The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

Hi! My friend Rob and I travelled from Taunton to see the gig last night and it was, quite simply, amazing! Julian was absolutely outstanding and his guitar sound was superb! It was a great 'band' performance. Well done to all! Perhaps it was significant that this gig took place on Easter Sunday - which speaks of resurrection/new life! Let's hope so! Alex

Alex Hi Alex, thank you for your kind words - what a journey you had - good man! I'd also thought of the Easter Sunday connection and rather hoped that 13 at the table for lunch wouldn't jinx it - nobody called Judas though - luckily

That gig was superb and for me it was made even better by meeting all the lovely people off of this forum-I felt I knew most of you because I had jousted with you all for a while -it was a grand day out and Nantwich was mental-hundreds of drunk people staggerering around. Finally got to meet the band again last time was 30 years ago,and they were so chilled and frankly nice chaps.Julian was a cool chap and real talented.still got ringing in my ears.Geddybear Oh yeah,I won a WALLET in the raffle(like being in my dads working mens club-when's the bingo on)

It was a pleasure to talk to u guys last night I say" talk to" rather than" talk with" because its true &most embarrassing that I couldnt understand- I had to laugh when I heard someone in the background shout" Speak English to him"-I got to listen to more BBC America. Thanks Catherine for making that happen

Well hello all you wonderful SAHBSTERS out there. Every SAHB gig I go to I make new friends and this one was no exception.
The band were really tight and I thought the sound was the best I'd heard from them. I agree that Zal was missed, but Julian was a fantastic replacement. He is an amazing player and made it all look so effortless.
The whole day was brilliant Nantwich is an interesting place with loads of pubs and great architecture (am I boring you?) Everywhere was packed out, I wish I'd gone down on the Saturday...maybe next year?
Catherine Glen for President............ You look after us all so well and you do it for all the right reasons. There are a large number of us that you have touched with your help and generosity. Thank You BH.
The 4 Amigos were the 3.5 Amigos for this one Platterpete, Chelsea Rob, Foxy Al and Mini Mick (Al's son Michael stepped in for that one) you were missed though Mick.
Can I please ask those that were there last night to now get behind the band, add your comments to this thread, even if the comments have been made by others, please show your appreciation of what was a fantastic night. Show the lads that we want them to keep playing, to keep touring and entertaining us in the way that only SAHB can. I know that most of you already do this, but we are the supporters and this is a forum, so let's support the band and use this forum to overwhelm these guys with our gratitude that they still perform for us and that we want them to continue to do so for many tours to come. I have a dream......(oh no wrong speech)

That's not the wrong speech, actually it's a quote very similar to the one that Chris chose for Mum & Dad's headstone at their grave "we have a dream" - Chris has said that for as long as I can remember - perhaps not a Captain Cliche (Chris) original but it touched him and he holds it dear. Bloody good post too Pete. You're quite right - you have my word on it that the band and our Julian too, read the forum - let them know - it MIGHT help them to come to the right decision.

I'd just like to add my thoughts to those already posted about last night. It was great to catch up with everybody again, hopefully there'll be more opportunities to do so going forward, as I really think the band should carry on. As anyone who knows me will vouch for I am probably one of Zals biggest fans & was obviously gutted when he decided to call it a day - but you know what, I have to say that last nights show was probably the best sound wise that I've seen since the boys got back together with Stevie. No broken strings, dodgy Marshalls anywhere to be seen & hearing the songs in their original form was excellent. Julian played a blinder & I have to admit that I didn't miss Zal at all (never thought I'd say that !!!!!!). On a personal note my 10 year old son Michael was looked after like royalty by everyone associated with the band, Catherine mainly - thanks very much Catherine you made his night when he got to watch Ted close up on stage during Amos Moses. Also thanks to the band for taking the time to have photos taken with him, shake his hand etc. Also thanks to Jon & Teds drum tech (sorry I can't remember his name) for being cool & giving him some of Teds sticks. I don't know if you'll read this or not Max, but my son reckons you're "really cool", so there you go praise indeed from a lad who likes Slipknot, Rage Against The Machine & the like!! Cheers, Alan
