Calling all fans, I was at "The Who Puts the Boot in Tour" in 1976 at Parkhead Stadium in 1976. I recall the bands playing were: the Steve Ellis Band; Streetwalkers; Little Feet; SAHB and the Who. From memory it was the first time lasers had been used (by the Who). It was an awesome gig and I would be interested to talk to other people who were there. I seem to remember Alex coming back on stage telling the crowd that they had to welcome these English guys (the Who) on stage as the crowd wanted more of SAHB. Is this correct ? or is my memory playing tricks with me??? I also remember Alex dangling a guitar on stage above Zal teasing him to play Jethro Tull's, Love Story. I am gutted because I have lost my T shirt from the concert after several house moves!! Gary.

Is this correct ? or is my memory playing tricks with me??? I also remember Alex dangling a guitar on stage above Zal teasing him to play Jethro Tull's, Love Story. I am gutted because I have lost my T shirt from the concert after several house moves!! Gary. According to Martin Kieity's book (and if Martin wrote it, it must be true, ask anyone on this site!) The Who had overstretched themselves, or at least their management had. They weren't selling tickets and would have looked pretty silly if they had to cancel at the last minute - plus it would be a very bad career move. So... legend has it that SAHB were asked to be one of the Who's 'friends' at short notice. It doesn't mention the ticket sales for Celtic in the book, but it says that Charlton Athletic's ground had only sold 17,000 tickets. After SAHB were announced as support it shot to 51,000. The implication is therefore than more fans were there to see SAHB than the Who, so your story sounds very plausible Well... anyway. That is what the book says. I wasn't there... 5th July 1976? I would be at home watching TOTPs on the telly. Oh hang on, Saturday night.... Dr.Who, then! vib PS. The Streetwalkers split a long time ago but Roger Chapman still tours regularly with 'The Shortlist' and is a pretty amazing live act, still. Ear damagingly loud last time I saw him, though...

I was at the gig, remember it really well. Alex walked on in a bearskin hat eating a flower, said something like" Its f*****g paradise" went straight into "Love Story". I think the bands were,The Pat travers band,The outlaws, widowmaker, streetwalkers and little feat. I was the kid asked on stage to spray VAMBO on the wall.Would love it if anyone had a photograph.

Y'see, I'm just a lost cause........I went on my own (free ticket from Chris) because I greatly admired Roger Daltrey's hair and wouldn't mind seeing the Who.
The whole shebang over ran to a great degree that Little Miss Miserable was getting cold and hungry, so I headed to the hot dog stand - happened to be being run by some people I knew (friends in high places, me!) so I got on board and sold hot dogs til the Who came on - although I do remember bits of SAHB - it's a very long time ago!

I Have a photo of someone up on stage with Alex. Its a crap photo as it was taken with a 110 camera. The negatives are tiny and this scan is the best I can get I'm afraid,. I have more photos of the day and will try to post them soon. Attachments:
