Just when you thought they'd died out althogether, two come along at the same time... Okay, maybe you're of an age that thinks they died out with the likes of ELP, Asia, The Firm etc, but it seems like these collaborations are back in vogue... for now at least After the Chickenfoot gig back in June - which I thought was going to end up being the event of the year for me (until SAHB play down this way again ), I couldnt believe my eyes & ears when I heard about [glow=red,2,300]Them Crooked Vultures[/glow] Couple of teasers: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBckNeRMXDYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=WYYdli0P8YIAs a big fan of classics like Led Zep (natch) and more current stuff by the likes of the Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age this is a dream collaboration for me (and a whole bunch of others apparently!) and I cant believe my luck in getting downstairs standing tickets for their additional Hammersmith gig on Dec 18th (the 17th was sold out within 0.004 seconds of going on general sale this morning) ..... kin nitemare I tell ya! They really do seem to be the hottest ticket around at the mo Gigs also in Portsmouth, Plymouth, Brum, Blackpool, Edinburgh Prob not everyone's cup of tea tho

Holy sh*t. What a collaboration.... At least these guys know what rock'n roll is all about! Nuts! www.youtube.com/user/themcrookedvultures#play/all/favorites-all/1/Wrl4m3-zAboThe "golden age of rock'n roll" seems to have started in 1955 and ended in 1993... what has happened since - its been 16 feckin' years... shit the Beatles only existed for 7 years and listen to what they did just by themselves!

Thanks for the link Ginnie, that track sounds a bit [glow=red,2,300]Cream[/glow] to me, whereas the others I've seen/heard on the 'net are much more[glow=red,2,300] Queens of the Stone Age [/glow] Cant wait to hear the album.... release date still unconfirmed

I'm not sure how much I'd listen to this group - On one hand their music has the old seventies rock sound but on the other the melodies lack a bit in variety - not as inventive as I would like. But they know what they're doing and its still better than most anything else I hear today.

Dave Grohl gets right on my thre'pny bits. I can't be doing with the bloke( or the Foo fighters for that matter) Apart from the complete lack of musicality in the music he's responsible for( I realise we're all different!) he appears to have no finesse on the drums and those cheesy videos are dreadful.
There,I've said it!

There,I've said it! I'm not a Foo Foo Fighter fan, and not a BIG Nirvana fan either (I think they were waaaaaaaaay overated - Pearl Jam were the best of the bunch) BUT I like the energy of Dave Grohl and he makes a presence of the drums on stage. I'm not a drummer, but I do appreciate very much the drums (being a bass/guitar player). I don't find his timing off or anything. A little story from the past... I used to jam with this drummer in the seventies who wanted to be all fancy - you know, throwing his sticks up in the air and catching them and such. I used to hate it when he did it because he would always miss the beat waiting for the drum stick to fall back down, so the beat would be late. I'd be on bass, and give him a look of astonishment - he would always give me a big smiling grin back thinking that I was amazed by his performance when actually I was amazed that he would sacrifice the beat for a bit of showmanship. I couldn't actually bring myself to tell him any different...
