My best ten year period is 1964 - 1974 (remember the Beatles didn't really get here till 1964)
There is SO much in this time period - from Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks, Yardbirds, to later sixties bands like Jefferson Airplane, CCR, MC5 to Iggy, Floyd, Bowie, Zep, and on and on... Was there a better ten year period?

Punk I can miss out on because I have MC5, Iggy and the Stooges, The New York Dolls, Velvet Underground (Sister Ray is more punk than anything the Pistols ever did IMHO) and The Who Live at Leeds is bigger than Never Mind the Bollocks... ;D ;D ;D

I'll go with 1963-1978 actually, because there was a lot a great music pre british invasion like The Beach Boys; The 4 Seasons; The Ventures stuff like that' 1978 because the metal metal was still evolving despite Disco and Punk if u know what I mean

I know you like challenges, Vic.

For me its gotta be 69-79, if only to include Woodstock, in my mind it is one of our finest hours, if we could recapture the mindset of Woodstock we would live in a far better world today.
The first time i heard the Sex Pistols was an amazing moment, my hair literally stood on end, Punk was an amazing time and scared the crap out of your parents.

ONLY ONE I looked through my collection and chose 10 of my favourites they ranged from 73 to 75 so Ill say 1974 as an average more than an actual year
