Alrighty troops, I've always loved the SAHB take on bluesy numbers - Soul In Chains has always been a fave, and of course Framed is pretty much perfect. So I'm looking for other good sllllloooooooow blues songs - real slow grinding toe-curlers. I'm sure the good people of the board might know better than me, so - any recommendations? Thanks in advance! ZM

Oops - forgot to mention - the thing that brought this to mind was hearing (wait for it) Tom Jones version of John Lee Hooker's "Burning Hell" on the radio today - a slow, instrumentally minimal blues song with a 70 year old Sir Tom bellowing his lungs out in pretty spectacular form. It might not be "purist", but it's pretty damn good, IMHO

I highly recommend Lightnin' Hopkins.
I have a CD of his "Lonesome Dog Blues" that is just excellent. I know its "old school" but his voice and guitar playing is top notch.
Have you given Robert Johnson a listen?
Most of my blues at home is a little quicker - B.B. King, Muddy Waters etc.
For newer stuff, AC/DC "Ride On" - I'm sure you've heard that one. I can't think of any more rock'n roll slow blues right now - the Stones have a few good ones, especially the Beggars Banquet album. There's some good ones too sprinkled on the early ZZ Top albums.

Thanks Ginnie, I'm in a stage of learning, to be honest - I'm aware of Lighnin' Hopkins and Robert Johnson via legend, but I can't say I've actually heard them. I'll certainly check them out. Thank you!
