Thanks for sharing that Pete. It makes me envious that I never dug deep into my pocket for a couple of tickets I listened live to the 'Electric Proms' show on Radio 2 last night and was blown away by the quality of musicianship. As I'm quite partial to a bit of 'new country', I really enjoyed Plant's new slant on some of the old classics like Gallows Pole. You can, of course, still listen again at the BBC Radio 2 website www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/electricproms/2010/artists/robertplant/and don't forget to set those PVR's to record the show highlights on BBC2 next saturday night at 23:15. As an aside, a few here wiill know that I'm a long standing fan of Patty Griffin, who appeared alongside RP in his 'Band of Joy'. I'm really happy that she's finally getting some of the recognition she deserves here in the UK. When she last toured here with her full band, I managed to film at a few venues. This is a clip I shot at 'The Maze' in Nottingham (edited and cleaned up by the legendary Andrey)

Watched the BBC prom and agree the standard of the musicians was brilliant if a little boring.Kept waiting for something interesting to happen and it didn't.As for Gallows pole the version with strange sensation was the best,in fact that particular incarnation was the the zenith of Plants achievements.

I agree that the Strange Sensation was a fantastic vehicle for Plant. I was a bit unsure of Band of Joy, a bit too country for me, I wasn't too fussed on Raising Sand either, but live they were fantastic. I would have liked them to rock a bit more and I hope that Plant returns to that vein in the future.

Over the last couple of weeks, we've watched quite a bit of Robert Plant - interviews and playing with Band of Joy - I suspect he will, if his voice will let him, return to that for which we know him best. He seems to be exploring music now, where he did not have the opportunity before.
