Woolly Wolstenholme, keyboard player with Barclay James Harvest and more recently with John Lees Barclay James Harvest, has died at the age of 63. He’s suffered for some time from mental health issues, and sadly took his own life on December 13.
A founder-member of BJH, Stuart ‘Woolly’ Wolstenholme left in 1979, unhappy with the musical direction the band were taking. Although he released a solo album titled Maestoso in 1980, Wolstenholme retired from music to take up farming. He only returned in 1998, joining Barclay James Harvest Through The Eyes Of John Lees. Since then he’d split his time between John Lees Barclay James Harvest and a solo career.
His ongoing mental issues kept him from touring with JLBJH recently.
