Our Darling Girl, Addy, had broken into majorly creative mode some time ago and she was Zaltastic in that suit of many greens that we know so well AND the paleface too - but she'd done MORE!! Isobel Addie was all decked out like His Chrisness from back in the day!!!
Thanks to them, I didn't feel quite so ridiculous all got up and sparkling like a mirror ball, in black and silver sequinned diagonal stripes..........yep, I had surpassed even myself and turned up dressed as an album cover!! Many thanks to dearest Dot, a lady I used to work with, for making it for me
The Warriors had got the crowd in party mood (like the crown wasn't going that way anyway!!) and next onstage was Bombskare, who soon had everyone skanking, I believe it's called to their high energy, lots of brass set of ska (again, I believe) music. Colin McBurnie wishing he still had his 50th birthday to come would have booked them for it!! They went down so well and cranked up the party atmosphere that I checked if they would give an encore........they did, a full 15 minutes of it!
I'm sorry to say but it must be said, directly after the Bomskare set, approximately half of the crowd left. Fair enough, the band sold tickets to their own fans, a good number of them too, it seemed but - and this is no doing of the band - this incredible display of ill mannered behaviour was like nothing I'd ever seen before. Just incredible. All very well supporting your favourite band but buggering off as soon as their set was over - disgraceful behaviour.
The raffle came and went, ably assisted as I was by the lovely 9even if she is a Tory!!) Ruth Hogg. The prizes that had been donated were so very generous and so very many in number, a bit of a juggling act was done with the list and although it was neither a themed nor fancy dress party, it was my especial pleasure to introduce Zal & Chris to present a prize each to Addy & Isobel.
Alex Junior sends his many apologies - he's my raffle buddy - but he got caught up in working late; I've kept him posted on the funds raised and he is delighted that such a good sum was made. Also with apologies for non attendance, Ted, who is touring at present - he did text the next day hoping that all had gone well. My heartfelt personal thanks to Janette & Mike, my "audience", when rambling on from the stage, I talk to them, they are a perfect audience.
NOT the dancers were ready - having applied their perfect makeup in almost darkness in the wings - NOT Zal, complete with precious shiny Jacobean black Gibson SG, NOT Ted and NOT Chris took the stage........................and THUNDERED into Ribs'n'Balls.
I then took the opportunity to introduce the band................the sensational NOT The Sensational Alex Harvey Band!!
You all know that I think they're great and we shall leave it that others have posted what a terrific set the band did. They are delightful people and simply sensational in their renditions of the music we love.
God love the Resonators, they were on last and performed a really great set to a very few people.........I don't think it was Bomskare fanitis, by now, it was late and transport had been booked, babysitters had to get off home and things and stuff. I do know, though, that those who DID stay on and listen to them, were well impressed and would love to see them again. Well done Resonators for hanging in there.
And so, to bed. NOPE!! I grabbed a cab and off we went to Rachel & Zal's hotel for MORE drink!!!! ARF!!!! AND we saw a fox, two actually, at different times, right downtown!!!
I think Darling Man and I finally fell into bed (after the battle of the many hairgrips!! Only one was found the next day!!) around twenty to six................AM!!!!!!!!!
With checkout at noon, it was 11.20 when we woke - groan!!
Our very own Paul, Huntvambo had done it again. In Febriary, he brought his Janet Macoska book to Glasgow but left it in his hotel room so it didn't get signed. Same scenario this time - he darted off to the hotel to get the book and got Zal to sign - phew!! Helpfully, His Chrisness had beamed up, so, very tired and just a teeny bit hungover, we took the book for Chris to sign. A quick cuppy tea and we were on our way - after Chris had extolled again the virtues of his new coat AND BEST OF ALL..............................IT HAS A COMPASS IN THE ZIPPER TOGGLE!!!!!!!!!!
A long drive home, more coffee stops than usual for Darling Man but we made it, safe and sound.
Only to have to hit the ground running on Monday morning and get to work.
Never again

I was a big fan of Pirate films and series on tv and westerns but cannot remember TK's war cry emblazoned on his shirt being used in any of those. Are you sure it's a pirate thing?

So, in conclusion, the bits I missed or misplaced in my memory......in no particular order
Great, as always, to see Suze Ridjakit, Gibby and, here's turn up for the books - Darling Man is quite bowled over by the delightful Hoo Ha Halley - nice man he is too; The Kids & The Hoggs were out in force and looking good - and just when I thought he hadn't made the trip - although Caveman assures me he was behind a pillar - at the very last, I bumped into Platterpete who intruduced me to his new lady - quite a weekend for the outing of new ladies!! I barely had the chance to chat but I'm sure I shall before long.
Highlight - Rachel's Dad being incredulous at Chris thanking him for the 60th birthday card - two years ago - Chris went on to point out that he had mentioned him in that ridiculously funny birthday bath blog - where, fabulously, His Chrisness was upstaged by a shower head attachment!!! Rachel's Dad & brother listed again to said blog......bugger them - there was the mention!!
Sadness that the live stream thing apparently cut to ads in between times and I understand that The Children of Them Colonies, especially Victor & Ginnie, therefore did not hear the two or three times that I hoped they were watching and had weathered Hurricane Sandy.........
Most importantly of all a great big thank you to the volunteer (commandeered!! ;D) raffle ticket sellers and charity tin rattlers, to all invlolved in entertaining us so royally, to the organisers but most especially bloody well done to Jim Hogg, he saw this through in a most exceptional manner and all praise must go to him - he even pretended to have a chest infection so's he could have time off work to just tie those final knots for SAHBrock. Top man & karma. Did you know he had superglued his fez to his beard? Accidentally, I'm told!! ;D
Our camera made the trip but not out of the suitcase!! A couple I took yesterday
My pudgy paw still sporting the daft black & silver nailpolish - still going strong after 1 week and four days
The mirror ball top - or my take on THAT album cover
I have still probably missed folks & things & stuff, please, take no offence, none was intended.
So, the nail polish was taken off yesterday, the last of the backcombing brushed out a week ago today and the very last traces of black out mascara finally disappeared on Saturday. There you go, the SAHBrock 2012 weekend in the life of a rock star's sister; I still have the teeshirt that proclaims "the sensational Chris' Sis.
It has taken a full week to catch up on sleep, shopping, laundry, housework and work (which got in the way terribly of the others!!) phew!!
Never again
Until the NEXT time

Great pics all round guys, thanks for posting; now we can see just how very resplendant Caveman was, how very Arctic Foxy Blond Huntvambo is and why Wee Pete is so called!!
As for the bar in the bog - as Rachel's Mum says "boys are horrid"!!
Meant to say Wullie the Duffel aka Billy Bolero (informal version) introduced himself at SAHBrock - nice man

Just one more thing - probably - Isobel Addie's perfect home made sweeties - a delight at any time but most especially appreciated by an ex-pat - a chocolate mint fondant cream (Children of them Colonies - hang on to your perfect teeth - the sugar's gonna get them!!) my Dad's favourite and one of mine too, a macaroon bar (more chocolate covered fondant but dusted in coconut (to keep it healthy!!) and the very best tablet this side o' the Clyde (more sugar, oh and butter!!)
My dear Isobel (or is it Isabel?) either way, your surname should be Goudie - them's not sweeties, them's magic spells - thankyou!!
