Saw ACDC in 1976 at Bradford St George's Hall for 50p. Tickets were £1 and if you collected tokens from Sounds you got them half price!! I've still got the ticket! I was very sceptical of Angus prior to the gig (shool uniform gimmick and all that) and even when they started he did'nt begin playing until half way through the first number. That coupled with the first wireless guitar I'd seen, meant that even after his first tremendous solo riff, I was looking backstage to see who was really playing!

that made me laugh amos, from memory i think they used to open with live wire, and 50p wow i think at the time with all the punk stuff starting they were one of the few bands who were exciting and could actually play their instruments and had a great front man ring any bells? mind you i never actually got round to seeing sahb until dec 14 2006,but at 15 quid and a couple of cheap easyjet flights,in 30 years time that will seem an unbeilevable bargain!

i am kind of shocked.. i had a neon sign of the who for sale in the local free ads here in spain(i love the who,but gill said it made the house look like a brothel cos i had it in the window)anyway, yesterday, this guy chris rang me up asked about it,never got back,it happens i am down the pub today,he rings me again, made a rough time to see the sign which he wants to add to his collection he turns up looks at the sign, says its not really what he expected but will buy it for 20 euros instead of the 35 i wanted,we agree on 25. as he seems a nice guy we start talking about music, the who obviously and the dogs are barking so i mention sahb,he then says 'have you ever heard of the yardbirds?' i say yes of course, jimmy page and all that 'that was my band',and then started to reel off the big names and a lot that i have never heard of,(im only 44)even as far as going to school with brian may anyway,it was chris dreja nice guy,no really nice guy,but a tight bastard lol if you have read this elsewhere,im sorry, but i only posted it in 3 places that you all know and i was kind of excited,if thats the word

I was at Reading in 75 I think (missed SAHB the previous year?) saw ACDC who had just arrived on the scene - what Blew me away was the raw Gibson SG sound and thats what we had got into with SAHB, I know they went out of tune a lot but why oh why doesnt zal still play one for old times sake? just a couple of songs PLEEEEAAAASSSEE!

He played a black one for a tune or two at the ABC last year! The "Jacobean black" Gibson found its way into Zal's armoury in June 2006 around the time of the Def Leppard Hammersmith Odeon guest opener that SAHB did. The conclusion being that black was the new "Heritage Cherry" and more in keeping with the Zalmeister's 21st century image. The Gibson's first airing was at the 2006 Bilston Tea Party and you are quite right it popped up for a few numbers at the last ABC concert ;D following a major string breaking extravaganza My other half is a big fan of the Zal/Gibson partnership and longs for it to always be so - however, things move on and none of the band play as they did in the 70s - known as progress, I believe! You know by now that Zal reads and posts on the forum.......suggestion........just keep asking for the return of the Gibson I'll put in my two penn'orth this weekend when we meet up - don't go looking for him n Barnsley - he won't be there!! ;D
