We'v only just kicked the ball on this one n already we may have lost sight of compromise. This is NOT a duel of egos, a scrap for glory, or a competition. Why can't we just see both plans thru without the complication? Wouldn't THAT be the ultimate achievement?
Everything that's said n done on both Forum and Yahoo Group is done so in the name of Alex Harvey and SAHB. Some RESPECT should be shown here, not only to Alex Harvey and SAHB but ultimately to EACH-OTHER.
It's always the fait of any person or group who put them-seves up for organizing something that at some point they may have to make the choice on what might not be a unanimous decision. If that choice is made for the greater good, then like it or not, they've got the job, hassle and responsibility of doing it, so that decision must be final. THAT is the organizers JOB and that's how progress and success are achieved for all. Those of us who aren't involved in the decision making should continue to support our ethos and those who are. For the official organizers of both events it is up to them to discuss if and how the plans might support and enhance each other.
If we all keep our cool and trust those who are in the unenviable position of putting both plans together both The Charity and The Tribute will succeed and serve their COLLECTIVE purposes.
There's NO line between these two projects, they are BOTH the work of THE SAHB Community, of which there is only ONE.

It could, of course, just be me but I have yet to see any sign of disagreement between Yahoo and Official.
It seems to be news to some that there are two groups - but now, they know.
Posting "I agree" "can we not all act as one for Alex" or similar seems to imply some sort of bad atmosphere between the two groups but like I said, there's none of which I'm aware.
Perhaps read again my post from March (SAHB Nearly 30 Years) - at which time nothing was firmly decided, besides a memorial in some form.
We're all rooting for the Alex Memorial and have been for some considerable time, having done whatever we could for the cause and now with the added bonus of an exhibit in the People's Palace, I would assume we were all in favour of that too - well, I am.

Hi folks, I haven't been on here for a long time but I've heard there was a wee bit o confusion regarding the Yahoo groups attempt to get a memorial / tribute to Alex so I thought i'd try and let you know where we are.
We had a meeting with a representitive of the Peoples Palace a few weeks back to see if they would be supportive of a bust or bench being placed somewhere within the gardens but after some discussion we all agreed that it would be more achievable to provide a display in honour of Alex within the PP. We then had a meeting with Hef upon which we agreed the proposed display will consist of Hef's Painting and some memorabilia shown in display cabinets. The main reason for this was timescale as this can be achieved in time for the 30th anniversary of Alex passing away. We still want to have a bench or bust eventually and are looking at this as phase 2 of the memorial....but for now we are concentrating on the display. With this in mind we are currently setting up a second meeting with the PP to agree possible dates, content and location etc.
With regards to the funding I believe we have raised enough money for phase 1 however we will continue our attempt to raise money for phase 2. I have recently spoken to Sarge about a possible SAHTB fundraiser and there may be something to announce there shortly.
I read a few of the posts earlier this week and noticed some comments regarding a possible divide between the Yahoo Group and this Forum.....I have to say I have never experienced this on either site and i'm not sure where this is coming from....possibly just a misunderstanding somewhere along the line. Suffice to say we are all fans of Alex and his Sensational Band.
To close off....before I start to haver...or is it too late?.....I would like to ask if anyone has anything they would like to contribute to the display then they are more than welcome to join in....this may have been started by the Yahoo Group but it is open to all fans of Alex.
I probably didn't explain this as well as I should have but I hope it gives you an idea of where we are and what we are trying to achieve.
I will try and check in more often and keep you all updated now that I have a bit more time on my hands.
Cheers all and thanks for listenin'
Stu

M'Lady Penny, PP and I went to see it when we were up for SAHBstock II - we did the full tourist bit and jumped on the open-top bus (the shame of it! PP's fault - he caught me sober) Well worth a visit though Totally agree, just don't pick a day when the BNP are marching through Glasgow like we did.

YAHOO SAHB REL LISTSHere U Go Pete......SAHB (192 members) launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/sahb/This is without doubt the most active group, message wise, but like most groups/forums it tends to be a few regular posters rather than the masses, and most of the postings are not sahb related, but they are a cool bunch with a big love for Alex / Sahb...and it is buzzing at the moment re the APP thread. And you know the other list....SAHBSTORY (615 members) groups.yahoo.com/group/sahbstory/ahoo This is the list that sahbofficial use as a mailing list for newz etc (the old Martin Keilty list) and with the lack of sahb news.......it is a bit slow posting wise Incedently....Both Yahoo lists have been on the links page of this site since i inherited it. I was so SURE that Mikey Drew's link would provide a petal strewn path straight to success - wrong again!! It's obviously me!!

you have been accepted Penny? I don't understand where all the difficulty is in joining. You just fill out your details, add a little note about your self and request to join.
