Firstly, the Alex Harvey Soulband gig recorded at the New Inn, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, 1964. The gig was recorded onto reel-to-reel tape and is 1 hour and 26 minutes long. I was listening to it last night and transferred the entire performance onto a recordable DVD (audio only, of course). It was too long to put directly onto an 80 minute CD. I am prepared to send the disc to Catherine Glen and she can distribute it freely to the fans as my own special tribute to mark the 30th anniversary of Alex's death. I'm just waiting for Catherine to text me a postal address and she can have it by Saturday 4th.
Here are the full details of the gig. Tracks are: "I Ain't Got Nothing But The Blues", "Long Long Gone", "The Fool", "Long Distance Call", "Beachcomber", "I Just Wanna Make Love To You", "Parchman Farm", "Evil Hearted Me", "You Are My Indian Sunshine", "Bony Moronie", "Night Train", "St. James Infirmary Blues", "Five Spot After Dark", "You're Outta Sight" and "Down In The Valley."
The line-up of the band was:
ALEX HARVEY: Vocals/ Rhythm Guitar LESLIE HARVEY: Lead Guitar JIMMIE GRIMES: Bass Guitar WILLIAM LAW: Drums BILL PATRICK: Saxophone/Flute
The sound quality is good and Alex's voice comes through clearly (you can hear every word of what he is singing). The instruments also come through clearly.

Two members of the Hairband are slapheads just like myself. Maybe they should change their name to the Hairbanned. The Soulband disc is ready and waiting to be sent to Catherine.

I've been contacted about the Soulband recording and advised to send it to the Tomahawk Kid. I've sent the disc and have no objection to it being played at the People's Palace on Saturday 4th February. There is one thing I want to make absolutely clear though. Copies of this recording must ONLY be given away to fans FREE OF CHARGE. I don't mind fans sending in a blank CD-R and a padded envelope with postage paid for a copy of the recording, but there should be no charge whatsoever (not even labour costs). If anyone tries to sell you a copy, turn it down. OK!!
