Thanks Ginnie,
Sadly, just a wee bit out of my price range. Tell you what...I have these rare songs...
Go Away Baby I Can Do Without Your Love The Sunday Song Horizons Maybe Someday Curtains For My Baby
Plus a Radio 1 Rockshow session by Alex & The New Band from 1978. The first person to provide me with a listen to the 'Band On The Wagon' album is welcome to a listen to these. They are all equally rare and were not cheap!

Alex sings a song called "No Offence Eddie" on the Hairband LP which was written by Derek Wadsworth (died 03/12/08). Derek stole the riff from a Duke Ellington tune. Ellington's first name was Edward, so that's why it's called "No Offence Eddie." The track called "Travelling Song" was written and sung by keyboard player Maurice Cockerill. I've got some good pictures of the Hairband, but I don't know how to send them to the webpage. Could someone explain it to me (simple instructions please!!).

Hi Again Roadworm,
Thanks for the info, much valued. Were you in the business yourself? You seem to have a lot of knowledge on early Alex.
To upload your HairBand pics choose reply as normal and hit browse on attachments...search for picture on your pc, select it and upload. Look forward to seeing them.
Do you have any rare Alex material you would be happy to share with us?

I'm in close contact with some ex members of the Hairband. I will upload the pictures as soon as I can. I've got one picture from 1968 and others from an October 2008 Hairband reunion at the Bloomsbury pub, Shaftesbury Avenue, London. Derek Wadsworth died less than 2 months later from cancer (he looks as fit as a fiddle in the photos). Very sad. I've got an audio interview from 1977 between Derek and Alex and they talk about the Sex Pistols and other stuff.

I've just been looking through my tape collection and have found a reel tape of Alex's Soulband live at the New Inn, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, 1964. I'm looking at the track listing and he sings "Down In The Valley", "The Fool", "You're Outta Sight", "Parchman Farm", "Long Long Gone", etc etc. Leslie is on guitar. Bill Patrick is on saxophone.

Now....That is RARE, rarer than rare!!!
It's generally thought no recordings of The Soul Band performing exist....Is this a regular c60, c90 or an old reel to reel cartridge?
If you are able to copy it to a cassette or cd, i could clean it up for you and if you were happy, it could be shared across the board...
I do have the interview with Derek Wadsworth from 1977, he and Alex clearly had a great friendship. Such a shame all these great talents are no longer with us...but what a gig must be going on in Heaven!
Look forward to hearing from you Roadworm.

I scanned a whole pile of SAHB/Alex Harvey stuff over the weekend onto jpeg, but when I tried to upload these pictures onto the website a notice came up saying that the file is too large. Is there any way around this?

Well, well, the pictures of this single seemed to upload without problem. Pity the other stuff is too large. Would I have to scan them in smaller sections (a quarter of the size?).
