".....Jambalaya ...... home made sausage bread ...... ice cold San Miguel Dark" Hey Vic - that sounds like something I'd like to try! According to Wikipedia (where would we be without it!) your Jambalaya is a cajun sensation (!) so I might be able to find some of that. Sausage Bread I've never heard of in this country! So I might have to try a little harder with that! And I enjoy a little San Miguel myself! But I've never seen the "dark" version. So I'm gonna embark on a little NY cultural exchange! I'll let you know how I get on!! Big Louie The Mrs. been making sausage bread for over 30 years-a family thing- San Miguel dark not easy to find if u have beer distributes there -ask for it they can order it I'm sure-very smooth and tasty The Mrs would part with the bread recipe if u like (HA!lol- the hard rockin sahbsters exchanging recipes-What have I done?! Tonight however just finished up broiled lemon chicken with potatoes and a side of broccoli rabe sauteed in garlic and olive oil I'm now down in sanctuary with a cup of black coffee with some Sambuca Romano "drizzled" in it ,stokin on a El Rey Del Mundo Rectangulare-maduro-rapidly approaching REM stage

Aside from all of which but tenuously connected to the thread - the Arkle restaurant, in the Chester Grosvenor hotel has the most fabulous bread trolley - about 15 types of bread - all baked daily on the premises. We were there having dinner with some friends, who'd never been before, when the bread trolley hove to. The breadmeister donned his white gloves, raised his ultra sharp bread knife and using it gently as a pointer commenced to intone: - we have poppy seed, caraway, seed, sunflower seed, German rye, Irish soda, granary, cottage white- and so on until he got to the spinach and bacon, sundried tomato with garlic and finally the banana bread. I made my choice and while my bread was being cut , one of our friends leaned over to me and said "I can't wait to try this sausage & bacon bread" - how we laughed! (unlike you are now!) The point of this - yes it does have one - is to relay to Victor that sausage bread, as far as I know is a delicacy of them colonies. (OK, you had to be there - use your imaginations!)

Well spotted Craigie D ;)and there's more This evening, we dined on, well, the table mainly, no - This is no ordinary salmon; this is fresh Scottish Lochmuir salmon fillet garnished with fresh spring onion, lime and coriander with a light soy, acacia honey and ginger glaze - good old Marks'n'Sparks. I did the noodles in toasted sesame oil just to top it off. Washed down with a light and flavoursome favourite of ours, Chateau de Sours, a Bordeaux Rose, hmmmmm! Happy bunny. (For Victor - I'm afraid that's how the TV ad runs for the store in question, all sultry velvety tones assuring you that this is not just cream, it's the cream of the cream from the eighth calf of the eighth yak which lives on the second Himalaya from the left etc. really!)

Our Great British Sunday lunch - eaten with gusto and relish around 3.30 this afternoon (my darling man is English, whilst I'm a Scot - so we compromise!) Roast chicken ( Poulet D'Or, organic, outdoor reared, slow growing, giant thing - 3 times the feckin' price of any other dead hen!!!) with creamed Maris Piper potatoes, green beans, purple sprouting broccoli and baby Chantenay carrots (from our home county of Shropshire - good old M&S - the day the farmer hervested these very carrots he was wearing Old Spice after shave and green socks to match his green wellies!) Washed down with ( the meal not the farmer!) a 2000 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - hic! To be followed in an hour or so by (sorry M&S again - Christmas/birthday gift vouchers) bread & butter pudding ( not any old bread and butter pudding but "simply divine bread & butter pudding; made with all butter brioche; West country cream and Amoretto soaked jumbo flame raisins) i know, I know, but it'll be delicious!!!! I don't maintain this silhouette by careful diet and excercise alone - as I think I may have said before!!!
