Our Great British Sunday lunch - eaten with gusto and relish around 3.30 this afternoon (my darling man is English, whilst I'm a Scot - so we compromise!) Roast chicken ( Poulet D'Or, organic, outdoor reared, slow growing, giant thing - 3 times the feckin' price of any other dead hen!!!) with creamed Maris Piper potatoes, green beans, purple sprouting broccoli and baby Chantenay carrots (from our home county of Shropshire - good old M&S - the day the farmer hervested these very carrots he was wearing Old Spice after shave and green socks to match his green wellies!) Washed down with ( the meal not the farmer!) a 2000 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon - hic! To be followed in an hour or so by (sorry M&S again - Christmas/birthday gift vouchers) bread & butter pudding ( not any old bread and butter pudding but "simply divine bread & butter pudding; made with all butter brioche; West country cream and Amoretto soaked jumbo flame raisins) i know, I know, but it'll be delicious!!!! I don't maintain this silhouette by careful diet and excercise alone - as I think I may have said before!!! Catherine that sound soooo good- I wouldnt know whether to eat it or sit in the middle of the table and poor the soaked raisins over my head! (had me chinese fix sos i cant complain)

This evening was the biggest chicken on the world - part two - yes, that great British tradition of Monday being Sunday all over again - hurrah!
Washed down with a perfect little South African Syrah 2002 - hic!
No pud though - not in the week!
Re : Pud, for the attention of Victor
yesterday's pud did sound supreme - but I gotta tell ya Vic, I'm no fan of Amoretto. Never mind sit on the table and tip the sultanas over yourself - I tell you, you could fire them out of your left nostril straight into your favourite wine glass - I still wouldn't like Amoretto.....however, it was truly plumptious! (burp!) (pardon)

Poor Victor - don't chop your head off though, you haven't the energy - get Mama Stromboli to sort you out some chicken soup. (although I'd go witht he toast myself, the ultimate comfort food in my book) Get well soon
