Would have loved to have met up with you all tonight. One day I will be brave enough to drive there! Have a great night, looking forward to hearing about it. It's only 60 miles, door to door but seems like a long drive on the goat tracks that pass for roads in parts of Herefordshire and Shropshire - lovely drive on a nice day - one day Penster, one day

The Robin played host to a young band Sugar Mama, as support to Band of Friends - initially, I thougt eeeewww, what a racket but then I paid a bit more attention; the vocalist has a really good voice, with an unusual quality to it and you could make out a great deal of the lyrics, which is a refreshing change!! I liked the drummer too, the 2 on guitar were well into it, trying not to crash into the furniture as their so very modern hairdos blinded them!! But they were good, if very inexperienced. The performance of the Band of Friends merely served to underline the point I make above; whether or not you like the music of Rory Gallagher, you simply must thoroughly enjoy the really professional, good set thundered out by guys so very well seasoned in bringing us live music. The fairly well filled venue really was rocking - and I know I shouldn't but it always makes me laugh - the monster mad male crackpot diehard Rory fans right up at the front - most of them move about and keep right in time with the music, really getting right into it - then there are the ones I see every time at The Robin, bless them, they have no co-ordination of movement whatsoever but are SO into the music they just GOTTA move - mainly like a chimp at a tea party but hey!! they're enjoying themselves! Great music, great band, great night AND Gwyn Ashton played a couple of guest numbers with them, very nice indeed to talk to him again, it's been so long since the 1st SAHB convention......many thanks again to Ted for his hospitality........Q&A?...............I forgot!!

The Cella Fellas on Friday night. They are so called, not because the have any Fritzel like propensities but because they rehearse in Andy's cellar, always good fun and success sealed by a free hot buffet laid on for the reopening of the Cleveland Arms, hurrah, stuffed full of pork baps.........gave the chilli a miss, just in case!!

And the next one is The Stranglers with my gigging buddies. The first time I saw them was much longer than anyone would care to remember. It is amazing how the last 30 odd years flew by.

I have just remembered too- ten o'clock curfew? What's that all about? Do they think we all need to be in bed wrapped up with our Horlicks?

I have just remembered too- ten o'clock curfew? What's that all about? Do they think we all need to be in bed wrapped up with our Horlicks? No, they want to quickly turn the venue into a nightclub and makes loadsa money from bingedrinking, headbanging, merry makers.

Deep Purple @ The Roundhouse Camden Wed Oct 16th
Seen Purps Loads of times.....
But... I think its getting towards the end ... Gillan realy should not have put 'Strange Kind of Woman' on the setlist (His voice was not up to the Job) Don Arey is ....ok but .... I miss John Lord big time Roger G held it all together - (he was the star peformer this time) Steve Morse always good but seemed - un-inspired despite the smile Ian P was solid
Apart from Roger I am not sure they were 'enjoying' it
They were ..... gooodish ..... But not Great !
